Msgr Pereira marks 45th anniversary of holy ordination
MONSIGNOR Christian Dominic Pereira marked the 45th anniversary of his holy vows as a priest on Sunday.There was no congregation or physical celebration even as he said Sunday morning mass due to public gathering restrictions in force because of the pandemic.
Msgr Pereira with “subdued gratitude” gave God thanks for his remarkable journey which began in June 1976.Over the past 45 years he has served at the parishes in New Grant, Siparia, Point Fortin, at the Cathedral, in the Laventille-Morvant area, Santa Rosa, San Fernando and presently at St Benedict’s RC in La Romaine where he has been parish priest since 2018.
He also spent one year at Boston College, four months at St George’s College in Jerusalem and three months on a mini-sabbatical at Creighton University in Nebraska.
Msgr Pereira is battling health challenges and parishioners offered special prayers on Sunday for his continued vocation as a priest

Her name is Lucille. My donations of tablets and cash are sent to her or father Pereira then to an NGO.....
They with the Monsignor and Abbot ( Brothers), Angie Ramnarine from the La Romaine Local and Migrant Support group (NGO)and Lucille,determine the needs of the poor. I have no involvement. I have never spoken or met the Pereira brothers or Ms Ramnarine. I was just told they needed help by Lucille.
Today, 25 more tablets were given to poor children at a school in Biche, more to follow ....
The Abbot has full authority to rule the monastery in both temporal and spiritual matters at Mt St Benedict.
An abbot is elected by the chapter of the monastery in secret ballot.
He must be at least 30 years old, of legitimate birth, professed at least 10 years, and an ordained priest.
Now ,can you understand the above or is too complicated for what ever grey matter lives between your ear lobes.

The efforts were given a special boost from a Trinidadian/Canadian residing in the Niagara Escarpment who recently contacted Lucille Nathu, a former employee of Catholic Media Services Limited (CAMSEL) to do some research in Trinidad for him.
He became aware of the work of the La Romaine Parish in caring for vulnerable children both local and migrant and his awareness of the programme and his passion for the wellbeing and security of children translated into a gift arranged by Lucille Nathu for the parish to receive 62 tablets and TT$10,000.
This gift was given during the December period and yesterday, after appropriate assessment by LARMS and KMAD, distributions were made to children for access to learning and communication. The cash will be used to assist with groceries and hampers.
If this is you, you know what you were doing. You are Catholic.
