FORMER Trinidad and Tobago and West Indies cricket team manager Omar Khan expressed his disappointment in the display of the Test side during the recent tour of Sri Lanka, but is looking ahead, with anticipation, to the limited-overs series in Pakistan.

The West Indies and Sri Lanka featured in two Test matches at the Galle International Stadium, Galle, and the hosts triumphed in both games, by 187 runs and 164 runs respectively.

“We continue to be living in hope, and hoping that the West Indies team will continue to improve, but there is no sign of improvement. What was most disappointing is the lack of strategy, the lack of determination and fight,” said Khan, in an interview on Monday.

there is no incentive for these players to improve when a little fifty a match can keep them around

Agreeing with Omar but what needs to be done? This the critical question, its no point crticizing if you do not have constructive solutions to help resolve the problem.

Has there been any sign s of improvement for the white ball teams?

The entire West Indies cricket culture - test and limited overs- is mired in mediocrity and incompetence. In spite of this, most criticism seem to be shrouded in insularity. Do the Bajans have anything to say about the shortcomings as captain and batsman of Kraigg Brathwaite or the continued futility as a test batsman of Shai Hope?

The same could be asked of Khan and other Trinidadians about Pollard, et al

The West Indies team is what it is, a team that I love and support and don't expect much from anymore. Would we accept a player/players who are not citizens of the West Indies to play for this team if they could get a work permit? Personally, if it meant improving as a team I would have no problem with it. We need our players to play more county cricket and play amongst players from around the cricketing world in FC cricket. It will help players to mature and expose them to different conditions.

We all have or own biases, as a Barbadian I acknowledge Desmond Haynes was our last great, a tiny Island that produced, Frank, Clyde, Everton,Wes, Malcolm, Gordon, Dessie and many others, is disappointed with the deterioration of the product.
I often look at Jamaica T&F, and the Balls cowboys being called the American team, The BCA had the capacity for Barbados to produce world class cricketers, and to be call the regional team.
Barbados have won almost half of the regional 4-day championship.

Is this the same omar Khan who recruits players for the Guyana Amazon warriors?
