Indeed it was a turn up for the books!!! congratulations
The big data machines crunched, diced and sliced and predicted Liv, City, Spurs as 1,2,3.
They say United and Arsenal will probably lose out on champions league once more, due to Chelsea.
Newcastle, West Ham and Leicester the outside bets to overachieve.

Good start by Gunners!
I am predicting Everton won't win a game till late September.
It is the fourth time the opener has been scored by a South American, after Faustino Asprilla in 1997-98 (Colombia), Carl Cort in 1999-00 (Guyana), and Luis Suárez in 2011-12 (Uruguay).

Steven Gerrard watch has officially begun
In reply to bdaTryangle will he go before Lampard?
In reply to camos
Thing is, people expected Everton to struggle. People expected Villa to be comfortably mid-table at worst. The seat may be warmer for Gerrard, relatively speaking.

Aston villa 2-1 Everton
Every time I see Lampard I'm transfixed by his bald spot. It's like the hole in the ozone layer over the Antarctic - is it getting bigger? Will it suddenly disappear as if by magic? Are the travails of managing Everton going to accelerate its growth?
I used to have a similar obsession with Ronaldo's Adam's apple.

In other news, Benjamin Mendy goes on trial:
The 28-year-old is accused of eight counts of rape, one of attempted rape and one of sexual assault.
Opening the case, Timothy Cray QC said it had "very little to do with football" and was more about men who "think they are powerful".
He said the alleged victims were "disposable" to Mr Mendy.
Chester Crown Court heard the offences against seven young women are alleged to have taken place at Mr Mendy's home between October 2018 and August 2021.
The French international, of Prestbury, Cheshire, is on trial alongside co-defendant Louis Saha Matturie, 41.

Not a Manure fan but two of my favorite players won this one. Sancho and Rashford. the look so good without Ronaldo
In reply to nitro
I didnt see the Rashford goal but that Sancho goal was special. He faked the defender to the ground and then just poked the ball into the net. I am a City fan so I am not even sure why I was rooting for MU, but That goal was pure beauty.
Liverpool need to quickly get 2 top talent midfielders one of which is a Go at onset and the willing to come of the bench till after 2023 when the oldies are gone. Bellington wont be available till January unless a 100M is made now but Moises Caicedo wants to play for them and the Flamengo 19 year old Joao Gomes is `said to be willing to join and wait for Firminos departure - can be had for like 15-20M. Matheus Nunez is also available.
In reply to birdseye Millner is 'old" at 37 so that can be expected
In reply to Scar Look Sadio Mane was the straw that stir the drink at Liverpool
In reply to Scar
Klop needs to focus on midfield and defence.
In reply to nitro Yep the mid field is aging and injuries will occur as a result - especially for a pressing team. Konate being injured hurts the Reds his speed and aggressiveness on the right is needed. That allows Henderson to play in right side as a holding middie coveriing for Arnold. Millner showed his age
Firmino is showing his lack of playing time affects his creativity and I sincerely believe when Nunez returns he should be on the left and Diaz playing more 'middlish' with his speed and direct play.
In reply to nitro Caicedo it seems may be joining soon- Man U is also trying to get him but he told them he wont play for them so the ball is in the Reds court.
Meanwhile the Team I grew up liking as a Fan ( Leeds) seems to be getting it together- Glad the Us coach didnt abandon the press as some thought he might
In reply to Scar
Yeah, I am impressed with the Leeds coach.

Only Manchester City can stop Arsenal this season.

Unai is a very good coach. He will start getting Villa playing better. He is about building his teams from the midfield. He designs his teams to score plenty, which will see Leon getting more of the ball, however they usually have some challenges defending.
BTW Spurs Lose! Wheh Ninsey deh?

Blessing in disguise for Man Utd, bad blow for Arsenal....
In reply to mikesiva
Big blow for Arsenal. They need to increase Arteta's spending money from 50M to 100M in January.
Yes, Huge blow to the Gunners. Jesus has been an indispensable cog in their successes so far this season. Eddie is just not good enough to fill his place, which beggars the question as to why they gave him a new 100K a week contract. It's going to be very hard to find a striker of suitable quality in the January window, and striker's not the only position where they need some quality back-up. Wonder how much the new Portuguese Wonder kid would go for?
This demonstrates why, even 5 points back, Man City remain the overwhelming favorite to win the title.
In reply to mikesiva, nitro, Kurt
Jesus injury is a very big blow.
Even getting a striker in January means you will need Nketiah to lead the line for about 6 weeks.
In other Arsenal news:
Caribbean History Comes to Life
The Arsenal Foundation has helped Sweet Patootoe Arts, a non-profit arts organisation that creates historical and contemporary films and documentaries around black heritage, launch a new project with the help of Mildmay Community Centre. Mildmay centre manager Teena Phillips tells us about it
Its a simple truth: a great management team can make all the difference. Here at Mildmay our team takes great pride in the reputation and trust weve built at this wonderful facility: welcoming informality enabled by expertise, creativity, down to earth sincerity and passion. This is a blend that we know is valued by our diverse user groups and across our borough.
When Islingtons Sweet Patootee Arts approached us about working with our members for their latest project a film project called Turning Point they made a great first impression.
Their management team, Tony and Rebecca, have bags of experience from their arts and heritage projects with a variety of communities, and the project is hugely exciting.
Turning Point is a video installation that will open on November 12 at Bristol Museum & Art Gallery. It combines performance and storytelling with archive material, visual art and a 3D soundscape inspired by oral histories of ordinary black people after the First World War.
Turning Point will be pitched at national and international gallery, cinema and online audiences it comprises rich, immersive storytelling that hovers between stage and screen.
The result of going ahead, from our side, has been a really lovely once-a-week get-together with Tony, Rebecca and our Golden Oldies group. With many of the long-standing membership having sadly passed away over the past couple of years, the group has recently acquired some new members. These include some of our older community from the Caribbean, many of whom came to the UK in the 1950s and 1960s. Our oldest member is in her nineties and she runs her table with a wit unmatched by anyone else around her.
The Caribbean elders have provided invaluable feedback on the stories in Turning Point. They have also participated in the soundscape, providing their voices for two of the four stories n the exhibition, giving the piece the authenticity that is a trademark of Sweet Patootee Arts.
For our members, having the opportunity speak with Tony about days gone by has been great it has been a really insightful journey for those who have participated in the project. Tony not only listens but hears them and evokes a feeling of value in what they have to say.
For us this is an absolute gem for a project and, as Tony has said, it brings a sense of ownership to the participants. It has also been an amazing opportunity for us here at the Mildmay Community Centre to see an appreciation for our members and to hear the laughter at the stories some of which can be quite saucy! from our older members. These are the stories that, all too often, become long since forgotten. In this case, those stories will live on.

More charges for Ivan Toney
Last month he was charged with 232 alleged breaches of betting rules.
Toney, 26, has scored 10 Premier League goals this season but missed out on a place in the England World Cup squad.
Brentford previously said: "The club has been in discussion with Ivan and his legal representatives. Those conversations will continue privately."
The club's statement continued: "We will make no further comment until the matter has been completed."
Toney has until Wednesday, 4 January to respond to the new FA misconduct charges, involving alleged breaches of FA rule E8, which bans players from betting on games, or sharing privileged information for the purposes of betting.
He faces a lengthy ban if they are proven. England defender Kieran Trippier was banned for 10 weeks by the FA in December 2020 for giving out information for others to bet on his transfer from Tottenham to Atletico Madrid.

In reply to cricketmad
Brighton is not a pushover so I will not complain about a 4-2 result.
Brighton scored their 1st after it was 0-3 when the wing backs (Zinchenko and White) came off and then the 2nd goal came at 1-4 just after Ødegaard and Partey came off.
In those 2 cases the team looked a little bit unorganized when swapping players and then VAR corrected that 3rd goal which could have provided a nervy ending. In these last 2 matches Saliba looked a bit rusty coming back from the World Cup and put some pressure on the 2 new defenders at the back and the 2 new midfielders infront him.
But maaan, I see Ødegaard do some touches in the box today that Ive seen only Zidane and Ronaldinho do.

In reply to FanAttick
Yes, he is. I think we will, within the next 12 months, recruit a number of EPL players. This is based on the quality of this new coach and his stated requirements of the JFF. The onboarding of Adidas, your friend Yagga on the marketing side of things (saw a very good interview with him on Iam Sure Sports last evening). As well as the appointment of Dennis Chung as Gen Sec.
I like Yagga's aspiration that although we can't offer First World experience for the RBZ and RGZ, Jamaica can still offer players selected for the national team a First-Class experience. This for both local and overseas based players and avoid the issues that have negatively impacted commitment to the national team and performance.
I also love that they will be focusing on developing the grass roots program. Look at the quality players across the globe with the Jamaican genes such as Marcus Edwards in Portugal, Reece Oxford in Germany, Ivan Toney and Levi Colwill in the UK. We are naturally gifted for this sport, and I believe we have gems right here a Yard.

Man U have gotten lots of dubious beneficiary calls. Actually the only match Arsenal lost was vs Man U and the opening goal in that match was Imcorrectly chalked off by VAR which changed the complexion of that match
Sky Sports/ESPN Incorrect VAR decisions
ESPN have reported one of the six mistakes includes the disallowed goal by Gabriel Martinelli in Arsenal's defeat at Manchester United in September.
Arsenal were denied a 12th-minute opener by VAR after referee Paul Tierney used the pitchside monitor to disallow the Brazil forward's goal for a foul on Christian Eriksen by Martin Odegaard in the build-up to the goal.

We could, he actually suits the new coach philosophy. He is very good with the high pressing game. Coach is big on the defensive side of the game. That is why I suspect the 2 players he spoke to personally were Lewis Baker and Isaac Hayden as we are lacking good CDMs and he is desperate to fill that role. I think 18 year Old Delano Splatt of Fulham U21, who has his Jamaican passport, is good for this role if Baker is still iffy.

In reply to FanAttick
I hear Gray has his passport now so I doubt it is him. I think it was Hayden or maybe Toney who was negative. Lewis Baker has always been iffy so I guess he still is. As I said I really think they should look at Splatt as well as Dante Cassanova of Spurs U21 who says he willing. They are both 18, will be good enough for 2026 and great to WIN world Cup 2030. Lol.
In reply to nitro
Whats the source for the Gray having his passport ? Simon?
Gray doesnt look as good this season as he did last season
maybe he lacks confidence
[b]In reply to
Gray struggling with Dyche system. Both he and Bailey to me play better with a 4-3-3 system or a 4-2-3-1 used by say a Paul Hall. Bailey looked much better playing with Hall's system for Jamaica. Dyche uses a very defensive midfield approach in his 4-5-1 system which Gray finds hard to adjust to.

The British media as usual targeting another 'party animal' in Bailey. What's new? My concern is that Leon is not playing well and neither is Antonio. Not looking good for us vs Mexico in a few weeks. Shamar Nicholson not getting much game time either.
As for Greenwood, I think it is a story 'planted' by his agent for two reasons. To ensure any negotiatons with a club now consider him an England player. He has more market value as an English player than a Jamaican.
It is also trying to place pressure on Southgate who has yet to publicly comment on the issue.

Gary Neville keeps saying Ten Hag has turned Man U into title contenders
more like title pretenders.
In reply to Acid
Gary Neville has nil credibility.
In reply to Acid I am just not a Ten Hag believer, he just seem so tight-assed, he may be able to create triangle/geometric plays, but soccer needs creativity and flair, if not savoir faire. Hag display none of that. I could be wrong, I know what they say about opinions
In reply to cricketmad & birdseye
Another thing, Rashford pulled out of Southgates team last week saying he has a foot injury but miraculously healed to play the full match today.
In reply to birdseye
Potter sacked!
Good guy but needed to stand up to the fools in recruitment.
If Arsenal say they want a dog Chelsea go buying them.
In reply to nitro
Leicester adds Brendan Rodgers to the casualty list
In reply to Acid
In reply to nitro Well he has a 5 years £12 million a season salary . Hell be fine. He will soon get another Job, there are several openings in England
In reply to Acid
Newcastle 2-0 Manchester United
Man Utd flattered to deceive. They're not title contenders this season.
It's a two-horse race.
In reply to nitro
I suppose it's nice to be on the other side of the manager getting sacked craziness.
That said Chelsea definitely impatient. You know you got problems when you sack the head guy twice in one season. Can't feel too bad for Potter though, he's getting paid regardless.
My buddy has to be relieved that the Hammers got some points. Moyes probably the next biggest name on the hot seat.
In reply to bdaTryangle
The list so far
1. Scott Parker - Bournemouth
2. Tuchel - Chelsea
3. Bruno Lage - Wolves
4. Gerrard - Villa
5. Ralph Hussenhuttl - Southampton
6. Lampard - Everton
7. Jesse Marsch - Leeds
8. Nathan Jones - Southampton
9. Viera - Palace
10. Conte - Spurs
11. Brendan Rodgers - Leicester
12. Potter - Chelsea
In reply to Acid
Saints and Blues on there twice. Klopp is the grand old man of the Premiership at a whopping 7 seasons.
In reply to bdaTryangle
Klopp in the hot seat if he loses to Arsenal next week.
In reply to nitro
Highly doubt that they would fire Klopp

In reply to Kurt
Whats up Kurt T?
longtime mi nuh see di I pon di ends
In reply to FanAttick
He scores loads of penalties and all you hear about is great striker
In reply to Halliwell
Four of his 22 Premiership goals this season have been penalties. To make a random comparison, Toney has five from 17.
In reply to KTom
As a general rule for club and country; not just THIS season!
In reply to Halliwell
Looks like you're moving the goalposts.
For Spurs, he scores about one penalty in six (32 out of 205 in the EPL); for England, the ratio is much higher, one in three (18 from 55 (penalty shoot-outs don't count)). Whether this means that defenders are dirtier in international football, the officiating is stricter, or that Kane gets special protection due to his status as England's star forward and/or captain, or some combination thereof, is a moot point.
But I'm more interested in another angle - are black players disproportionately penalised (fouls given, yellow and red cards) in, say, English professional football? If so (I suspect they are), what would be the reason(s) for this?
i) the officials are racist?
ii) the fans are racist (crowd reaction is known to influence refereeing decisions)?
iii) black players are generally more aggressive or act with lower impulse control?
In reply to FanAttick
Hey Fan, I'm doing well. I remember many years ago that Tony Cozier warned that WI cricket was in danger of becoming an irrelevance. That warning was ignored and today WI cricket is irrelevant to me. I cancelled my Willow subscription and I no longer watch live cricket. Arsenal have been my other love since the late 70s and fortunately they have reinvented themselves and are finding some measure of success. When one door closes, another opens!
So no more "Rum Shop" for me, it's strictly "Back Room".
Kurt
In reply to Kurt
Are you still domiciled in the Atlanta area?
In reply to mikesiva
You would not believe it but there at the top of the league! Its weird how they just started to do so well.
In reply to Drapsey
Yes, indeed. Hard for me to believe, but coming up on 30 years now. The positive is that with the end of my stint in the ATL in sight, I can finally start looking into beach front property.
Kurt
In reply to Kurt
I've been in the area since 2015.

That result probably confirms that these two clubs can only battle for Europa League places next season.

Well the heat under Moyes seemed to drop but taking a 5-1 hammering has to put him right back on the front burner
Lampard again falls upwards. Appointed boss of Chelsea yet again.
Must be nice.

I don't mind. Arsenal need to beat them to hold off City.

After being 2 nil up inside the first half hour I am really disappointed with the result.
In reply to cricketmad
I expected worse so I will grab the 1 point thank you very much
In reply to nitro
I know a point is better than none ,but the excellent start raised my expectation.
In reply to nitro Never thought Id see Salah become dead weight on his team. Henderson is useless .Sadio Mané was the key to Liverpools success he is not flourishing at Bayern Munich, so maybe Liverpool can get him back Virgil van Dijk is getting useless, vastly diminished skills
In reply to birdseye
England's goalie, Pickford, killed van Dijk's career and was not even punished for it.
In reply to cricketmad
Man city, Man U and Newcastle all lost at anfield. They haven't conceded at home in the league in 2023 before today.
In reply to nitro
I know all that nitro ,but as I said the 2 nil lead inside the first 30 minutes made me started to believe we could pull the victory off.
In reply to nitro he was the guy who sent him to have surgery?
In reply to birdseye
Same slimy bastard.
In reply to nitro he is just not the same since. I think a lot of it is mental, fear...he doesnt challenge with the same confidence as before, he seem to be thinking rather than reacting as he was used
Positives:
A point at Anfield
Arsenal teams before this one would surely have lost this game
Ramsdale
Gabriel was excellent
Negatives:
Giving up a 2 goal lead
Shivchenko. Often gave the ball away and got exposed for the equalizer
If you told me before the match that we would get a point from Anfield. I would take that all the time.

Arsenal choking away the title
Down 0-2 at the half
In reply to FanAttick
They started the choke a few weeks ago.I was always fearful for them against City.
In reply to cricketmad
I would not call that a choke. This is their first loss in weeks. City is just too good. Arsenal best player would be a sub in City's squad.
In reply to nitro You might not call it choking but they been underperforming their last 4 games, 3 draws after leading, then today they didnt have a clue. --- As a City fan I thoroughly enjoyed the match. But for the brilliance of their goalie, city could have easily scored 7 or 8 goals

In reply to FanAttick
Chelsea apparently not releasing Chukwuemeka for the England U20 world cup in May. So the England coach in Hutchinson's face to replace him. Not sure if there is pressure from Chelsea as well. This is war but I think even if he goes to the U20 WC he will return to Jamaica.
In reply to nitro
Ok..well see

In reply to FanAttick
Coach Halgrim may not call him back though. Dis bredda nuh joke. Heard last night that a player told him to check him back in 2026 and Halgrim laughed him to scorn and deleted his number. The player starts in the EPL.
In reply to nitro
Yeah..I was listening to Katarock
In reply to FanAttick
Well Mannings Man shot it down tonight on Coaches Desk. He said the youngster is still committed to Jamaica. He did share a concern however that players could be missing for the GC because of contract negotiations and transfers to other clubs. Omari could be one going on loan.

The race is on to see if Tyrick Mitchell's will be ready.
There are delays at PICA.
Don't know the outcome with McNeil but I think he would be an even better fit than Gray based on the coach's style of play.
We need to solve the RB,CDM and CAM positions.

I have great respect for what Man U achieved under Fergie, who I consider the greatest manager ever and over the years there are players on Man U team that have been my favorites like Yorke, Cole, Ronaldo (the young one) and Sancho.
I grew up loving Arsenal however, win lose, or draw.

I just checked. Unfortunately he got injured. Subbed in the 87th minute
I checked the replay..he didnt look that seriously injured. Hopefully it was just exhaustion
In reply to FanAttick
That would be sad after finally getting his papers. Did you know it took Andre Gray 5 years to obtain his passport? Pure errors in his father's documents. It appeared back in those days record keeping was not important.
There is apparently a new player who submitted his documents from 2018 and it is just finally coming through.
