Saint Lucia Kings have won the toss and have opted to bat

Narper 2022-09-22 22:37:27

Shimron Hetmyer -
It's fine to bowl first, but I wasn't sure about my decision at the toss. We are just thinking about getting two points tonight. We will keep supporting our batters, I'm sure they'll come good. No changes for us today.

Narper 2022-09-22 22:37:53

Faf du Plessis -
We will bat first. Looking at the other games so far, put up a score on the board and defend it. Johnson Charles has been amazing at the top of the order, someone will have to fill his boots tonight. Momentum is a big word in tournaments like these, we have three changes for today.

Narper 2022-09-22 22:48:48

Pitch Report | Danny Morrison and Samuel Badree:
We have quite a few games already and the pitch has become a bit dry. The cracks have opened up appreciably, the average score in the matches so far has been 166, so runs can still be scored. A very good cricket pitch with something on offer for everyone.

Narper 2022-09-22 23:02:13

du Plessis and Mark Deyal are at the crease.

du Plessis is on strike.

Shepherd will open the attack

Shepherd to du Plessis, no run

Narper 2022-09-22 23:04:52

Gawn !!!!!!!!!!!

Shepherd to Mark Deyal, out Caught by Odean Smith!! Another swing, another one that's badly mistimed and he's holed out to Odean Smith, running back from mid-on. Was pitched up, but Deyal didn't give himself a chance, went slogging wildly, get it off the higher part of the bat and lobbed over mid-on. Smith ran back, kept his eyes on the ball and caught it over his shoulder. The perfect start for the Warriors.

Shepherd to du Plessis, FOUR, du Plessis is on the charge, comes down the pitch and goes through with the shovel, closed the face of the bat on impact and sends it over mid-wicket for a boundary

Junior Sinclair to Dickwella, FOUR, back-to-back boundaries for Dickwella, tad too full from Sinclair - Dickwella gets on his knee, reads the length early and then sweeps it over mid-wicket, no need to run for those

Junior Sinclair to Dickwella, FOUR, beautifully played, Dickwella runs down the pitch, gets close to the ball and then lifts it over mid-off, couple of bounces and over the ropes

Narper 2022-09-22 23:14:00

Shepherd to du Plessis, FOUR, make that four fours of the over, too full and right in the slot, du Plessis brings his bottom-hand into play on the whip over wide mid-on, no need to run for those

Shepherd to du Plessis, FOUR, a one-handed swipe and du Plessis has his third boundary of the over, tad too short from Shepherd - can't bowl at his pace, du Plessis waits on it and clubs it over mid-wicket for a boundary

Shakib to du Plessis, FOUR, beautifully played, tad too short form Shakib, du Plessis is quick to pick the length, swivels across and then finds the gap wide of mid-wicket for a boundary

Odean Smith to Dickwella, no ball, 1 run, the partnership between Dickwella and du Plessis is now
Odean Smith to du Plessis, SIX, tcheeky and six, that wrong no-ball call has cost Smith here - on a length and well outside off, du Plessis shuffles right across, uses the pace on the ball and paddles it over long leg for a maximum

Narper 2022-09-22 23:46:24

Tahir to du Plessis, FOUR, cracking shot, very full and sliding onto the pads, du Plessis leans across, uses the pace on the ball ad then plays the whippy on-drive, threads the gap between deep mid-wicket and long-on to precision

Narper 2022-09-23 00:03:50

Motie to du Plessis, FOUR, oh dear! That sums up GAW's effort tonight, flighted delivery on off, du Plessis gets forward and then plays the inside out drive past cover - Tahir ran to his right from deep cover, Smith to his left from long-on. Both had it covered, but Tahir slid and palmed the ball away from Smith's reach, and into the ropes, du Plessis moves into the 90s

Was the wrong 'un , slower through the air and spinning away from wide of off, Dickwella went hard on the drive, gets a thick slice and Hope does the rest, diving forward at short third man and completing a two-handed catch.

Shakib to Adam Hose, out Stumped!! Shakib has his man now, pre-empted Hose's charge, dragged the length back and darted a quicker delivery wide of off, the right-hander swings and misses. Gurbaz doesn't collect the ball cleanly, but he's lucky that the ricochet goes on and breaks the stumps, the zing bails lit up and Hose is on his way back to the dug-out

Don't think it'll save him though, it'll not save him as the on-field umpires say that the DRS is down, but they're still checking. No bat and Wiese is pinged low on the back-thigh. The impact is in front of middle, we do have UltraEdge and there's a no bat. Ok, DRS is working, onto hawk-eye and it's smashing into the middle-stump, three reds and Wiese is OUT.

Odean Smith to Roston Chase, FOUR, a huge top-edge on the flick, Sinclair covers ground, gets to the ball and then spills it, third drop of the evening by GAW, they've been average in the field. Chase was early into the flick, closed the bat-face and sent the ball miles in the air. Having got there and at a good position, Sinclair would be gutted at having dropped it and watches it bounce onto the ropes

Another one bites the dust

Narper 2022-09-23 01:51:29

Mark Deyal to Gurbaz, out Caught by Jeavor Royal!! Massive strike by Deyal first-ball! He is absolutely chuffed and why not! Gurbaz can't believe what he's done and is down on his knees in disappointed. Went for the slog sweep, the wider line probably undid him and the result is a big top edge that balloons only as far as short third man. A sparkling knock that's laid the platform for the Warriors but they'd have loved him to bat deeper. He knows that as he walks back dejected. Just like that, both set batters have fallen in quick succession.

Shakib gaan now

Narper 2022-09-23 01:53:46

Mark Deyal to Shakib, out Bowled!! 2 in 2 for Deyal! This is some turnaround by the Kings and they have now struck thrice in the last eight deliveries. This is a flat off break that probably just grips a shade, Shakib plays down the wrong line and hears the death rattle behind him. A golden duck for the Bangladesh superstar. The home crowd are shell-shocked to say the least. Not too long ago, they were partying but it's all come down crashing. T20 cricket for you.

Mark Deyal to Hetmyer, FOUR, wrong line, fired on the pads and Hetmyer gets it away with very fine with a neat leg glance. There was a fielder at fine leg but he was too square and couldn't get across in time

Mark Deyal to Hetmyer, no run, close shave for Hetmyer! Had this been given on-field, he'd have been on his way back to the dugout. Was stuck on the back foot to the slider and it struck him on the front pad quite low. Impact was around middle-and-leg, and the initial impression was that it would have missed leg stump. Which is that the ump also probably felt. Kings went for the review and as it turns out - it's umpire's call on hitting. Review retained! The tense home crowd can breathe again

Mark Deyal to Hetmyer, FOUR, timely boundary! Wasn't hit all that well by Hetmyer, went for the cut and got it more off a slice. Just sneaks past the short third man fielder and away to the ropes

Narper 2022-09-23 02:23:13

Wiese to Hetmyer, SIX, first shot in anger from Hetmyer! He's taken his time, milked the spinners and has decided that any kind of pace has to go. Full and in the arc, he just used all of that angle to heave this over deep square leg

Wiese to Hetmyer, 2 runs, slower ball around off, Hetmyer drags it off the inside half of the blade through mid-wicket. Enough time for the batters to get a brace by the time long-on gets to this

Alzarri Joseph to Hetmyer, out Caught by Roston Chase!! Hetmyer has holed out! Was in the slot to be fair and he just missed out. Went for the heave, caught it slightly off the inside half of the blade and dragged it flat down deep square leg's throat. He is disappointed with himself and rightly so. Meanwhile, Joseph gives him a silent glare. This is a big wicket for the Kings. Can they engineer another mini-collapse here?

Alzarri Joseph to Shepherd, leg byes, 5 runs, terrible fielding and Joseph is absolutely furious! Royal the fielder at short fine leg, fired a very wayward throw at the bowler's end. Nobody was backing up and mid-on had no chance to get across

Primus to Shai Hope, SIX, make that three in a row! Hope is going bonkers here and this stiff target has officially become a mockery. Another yorker missed, this is a low full toss on the pads and it's picked up over deep backward square leg

Shai Hope | Player of the Match:
Feels good to get out there and do what I love, which is batting. Missed a few games early on. We had self-belief, we wanted to stick to our plans and were confident of chasing them off. It's just about doing what the team requires, batting to a plan and I needed to up the strike rate, so that's what I did. I never played in front of such a great crowd, hopefully we can get them more wins. Of course, you have to have it (self belief about winning the title)

Narper 2022-09-23 03:10:18

Shimron Hetmyer | Warriors skipper:
Coming home, we knew we had to do our best and the guys continued to deliver time and time again. Well done to the guys. When you are chasing 190-odd, you just tell the guys that you have nothing to lose. That was the thinking and it worked for us. Bowling at night here is tough and can't really fault the guys. Faf played a top knock, one of the best that I've seen in a while. I just told the guys to enjoy themselves and give the crowd a proper show, irrespective of how the result ends

Narper 2022-09-23 03:10:41

Faf du Plessis | Kings skipper:
It was a nice pitch, there was dew so the ball skid a bit in the second half. I thought we had a good score but we weren't okay with the ball and also not great in the field. It was slippery due to the dew but still. We have one more game left, a win gives us a top-two spot but a loss could even push us out. We know it's tight out there
