West Indies T20 captain Nicholas Pooran believes a bitterly disappointing end to the ICC Men's T20 World Cup should serve as a learning experience for the team.

On Friday, a dominant half-century from veteran opener Paul Stirling put an end to the campaign of the Caribbean team, in the first round of the tournament.  Stirling’s 66 from 48 deliveries led the Irish to a resounding 9-wicket win with 15 balls remaining and a spot in the Super-12.

"It’s obviously a learning experience.  We have disappointed our fans back home and most importantly disappointed ourselves,” Pooran said following the match.

First of all how and why he became captain? Secondly, based on recent form as WI captain and CPL, he among others shouldn't have been in the squad. Thirdly, it seemed as though he was following a script on the field in how he uses his bowlers. Fourthly, it's time for a coaching staff change. Simmons and company had a fair run to no avail. Last but not least the CWI has some major thinking and reform to do. What we have just witness is very embarrassing to say the least.

How much learning does he want? At this rate he’ll soon become a scholar

He should just be fired with immediate effect

Pooran looks like he need extra help than advice on the field of play. Doesn’t look like he in charge with personnel deh to back him up. As for his batting he shot selection matches his decision as captain. Rash and school like, he can’t be learning to bat properly as well as learning on the job to captain the team.

It’s obviously a learning experience.

Hey Skippa care to tell us what was your "learning" from this experience?

While its easy to throw criticism at the Captain (deservedly so), we should appreciate by now that that is not where the issue really lies. Every captain (save and except for Sammy in T20s) appointed since Richards has had the same fate, some more significantly so than others. The issue is culture.

Look at Australia's loss this morning. They actually played cricket the way we do. Either 4, 6 or out. nothing in between. Our Cricket knows no other gear. It was easy to survive when we had the likes of Gayle, Bravo, Pollard, and Dr. Russ in form. Those guys were freaks. Even then, it was the performances of Samuels and Lendl Simmons that really saved us more often than not.

It is high time that our teams are selected based on actual performance and attitude. One only has to look as far as Manchester United this weekend. CHRISTIANO RONALDO refused to come on as a sub and was duly benched! He however, was not sidelined for 2 years due to egos of the Board. We need our players but we need our players disciplined. Until a culture of discipline is instilled wee will go nowhere. When the discipline affects our countryman we spew hate and ask why it wasnt done to others and blah blah blah. we undermine the system individually and colletively yet expect results from these young kids who we have not nurtured (remember making Sarwan captain when he could hardly even speak?).

This is the ideal time for CWI to remodel our product, build our players, build a team, and build a legacy.

He talks about batting failure...as did coach, President,Sir Robert blah blah.... nothing about strategy adopted...be it opening with Mayers with bat and ball despite repeated failures...using Akeal in 2nd over...packing team with batters but still playing defensive cricket in powerplay...
Speak up boy....failed strategy was big reason for our ouster from super12....

[I expected to have heard to have heard the resignation of Sir Desmond Haynes, Phil Simmons and captain Pooran. 24 hours after that embarrassment since we have not heard of any resignation I am now calling on CWI to fire chief selector Sir Desmond Haynes and his entire panel, Head coach Phil Simmons and his coaching staff and captain Nicholas Pooran. If we fail to do that then my next call would be to call for the resignation of Me Skerrit.

I thought Raymond Riefer was supposed to be Hon Desmond Haynes batsman to play the role Marlon Samuel played for us. But three matches and he didn’t play any so that’s on Hon Desmond Haynes and for that he should be fired! Wasn’t Yannic Cariah supposed to be Hon Haynes secret weapon? 3 matches and he never showed up. Another one against Sir Desmond Haynes. Was Sheldon Cottrell supposed to be our strike newball bowler ? 3 matches and all we got from him was a plane ride? Another one on Haynes, Simmons and Pooran. Isn’t Evin Lewis One of the top T20 openers in the world? Why was he demoted to # 3? Simmons and Pooran should have been gone already
