HEADLINE: Pooran relinquishes white ball captaincy of the West Indies Menís Team 2022-11-21 17:37:49

ST JOHN’S, Antigua – Cricket West Indies (CWI) confirmed today that Nicholas Pooran has decided to relinquish the white ball captaincy of the West Indies Men’s team following the team’s exit from the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 tournament just completed in Australia.

Pooran said: “I have given the captaincy a great deal of thought since the enormous disappointment of the T20 World Cup. I took on the role with great pride and dedication and have given it absolutely everything over the past year.

“The T20 World Cup is something that must not define us and I will readily get involved in the upcoming reviews. And whilst it will be several months until we reconvene as a squad, I want to give CWI plenty of time to prepare for the matches against South Africa in March and beyond.”

Thank you

You were not up to the task of holding your batting together and leading this side
You’re not a bad bloke nor a poor player

You’ll be back

Well done on showing ACCOUNTABILITY
Someone had to take responsibility for the World Cup debacle

Now go and make plenty runs wherever

Bolder than Holder, if you think is lie ask Sudden.

I never thought he was capable because his body language suggest uncertainty; insecurity; doubt.
I was still routing for him because if he did well West Indies would do well.
Your statement showed class and you are more respected for it

I believe he did himself and West Indies a huge favor. No doubt he has the ability to both score runs but timing was bad. While I like Powell I still believe Holder is the best we have and selectors should swallow their pride and reinstate Holder as white ball captain for now

If they're going to select a captain for both white ball formats then it should be Powell or Holder.

Good for Pooran. As for the successor, Powell is the natural person to turn to as VC and also successful regional captain in both formats. Holder??? do we want to go back to the insipid style of leadership? No one remembers Holder in 2021 CPL? Even his franchise moved on from him. Holder may be a good cricketer but he is not the leader of men.
