Former Test opening batsman, Barbadian Philo Wallace is not supporting the call for Shivnarine ‘Tiger’ Chanderpaul to become the new head coach of the West Indies cricket team.

Speaking on the Mason And Guest cricket radio show on Tuesday night, Wallace said that Chanderpaul lacks coaching experience at the international level and was not the man for the job.

“Shiv Chanderpaul as head coach would surprise me. If he is appointed, is it based on scoring 11,000 Test runs, his coaching experience at the international level is very limited.

“We cannot continue to keep following people. We have to set an example. Chanderpaul has been a fantastic player. He has had some success with the Jamaican Tallawahs, is it possible he can transfer that into red ball cricket?”

Shiv would be a very bad choice at this time. I support Philo Wallace on this one. Again I suggest that we start to promote our regional coaches just as we reward our players with test caps based on their success in our regional competition. It makes no sense to have regional coaches coaching our prospective test players and when we want a coach to coach the test team we go to past test players with no regional experience. If Chiv and others want to coach our senior team then let them give back to one of our six or seven regional teams

I also support Phil on this, however, I'll support Shiv being the batting coach at this time and Ambrose as the bowling coach.

In the NFL you will see coaches for every discipline, yet we hear and see Bowling coach, no fielding, no wicketkeeping, no spinner coaches.
Is Ambrose coaching all the bowlers?
