Shirley Clarke has been relieved of his duties as head coach of the Windward Islands Volcanoes franchise with immediate effect. Clarke will be replaced on an interim basis by South African Russel Sising.
Chairman of the Windward Islands Cricket Board (WICB) Dr Kishore Shallow confirmed Clarke’s dismissal to Sportsmax.TV on Monday citing the team’s lack of performance.
“I can confirm that we have separated from Mr. Clarke. The board thought that we were not necessarily on the same wavelength,” Dr Shallow said.
The decision was not a knee-jerk reaction but stemmed concerns the board had since last year during the Regional Super 50 tournament in which the Windward Island Volcanoes won only two matches, both against the Combined College and Campuses team.

Shallow firing people for poor performance is quite the death of irony and comedy isn't it

Replaced by South African Sising in a casual, by the way statement. Who is this chap and what is his connection with the actors let alone his coaching CV.
What is/was the stated direction that the Team was not heading and when was Mr. Clarke informed that he was not meeting the Boards expectations. Why 2 games into a tournament you fly in an entire board and an entourage to relieve a causal employee.
The cricket problems in the West Indies has so much less to do with bat and ball than we care to admit. Too many supposed big fish in these little brooks and streams.

Windwards have not been doing badly so far. They had a great fightback against TT and then almost beat the table leaders, Guyana. What more could they want from a team that was not impressive in the last tournament?

I don't like this heavy handed approach by the Wwds.
Thus should not happen at this level in regional cricket.
I'd prefer the end of the competition based on reasons given. Simple

Looking to see the sort of currency this thread gets. Dr. Shallow intends to contest the CWI Presidency.

For a long time now the WICB has had a culture of attracting types whose only interest is to fill their own quiver. Follow the money and you will find these guys everywhere.
The sad thing is very few of them have ever truly cared to understand what it takes un develop a top class cricketer let alone a successful brand because they do not have a fundamental love for the game that has allowed us to be universally accepted as a people.
I would dare to say this sacking has nothing to do with cricket.

Not that I was in any way recommending him. Given what other posters said before I commented, I was attempting to show the man's ambitions even as this episode of his persona unfolds.
