HEADLINE: King sees Sammy coaching era as 'fresh start'

SHARJAH, United Arab Emirates (CMC) — Opener Brandon King says he has bought into the "exciting ideas" put forward by the new white-ball management team headed by Darren Sammy, and believes the outlook for the side is a bright one.

The 28-year-old struck a run-a-ball 112 as West Indies beat United Arab Emirates by seven wickets in the opening One-Day International of the three-match series on Sunday.

King said the recent changes in the management unit had resulted in new perspectives in the West Indies approach.

"Change sometimes can be good, it can be bad. I think it depends on how you look at it," the Jamaican said.

"It's a fresh start and they've brought some exciting ideas and ways in which we want to play the game, and I'm very much on board with that.

"So it's looking very positive for the future and hopefully we can continue playing in the way we started in this first game."

A couple of years ago King was running his mouth after beating up on Ireland....then a lean patch followed when he couldnt buy a run...so he better watch it....

Follow the coach but take responsible for his performances

Interesting times in West Indies cricket.

Cautiously optimistic for both red and white ball

I like what I see taking place in West Indies cricket the last two months or so. I like the coaching style of Darren Sammy and was particularly happy to see Carl Hooper with him. Yes UAE is not a top team but going back to how the white ball team performed in SA and the way our A team performed in Bangladesh against their A team, I am beginning to feel a turn around is not far away with the likes of Mc Kesnsie, Arthanaze, Mc Alister, Jordan and a few more young stars we saw during our regional competition

Yes there seems to be a light beyond the darkness, I like the the young players and some experienced players who are shaping up with their approach to the game, seeking to become more consistent, this is the correct application by our players out of the wilderness. That been said, at a risk of been applauded by VOR, I concur with Sammy regarding the use of some of our experienced players.
Did I say that out aloud !!
