Always open to suggestions. Here are the problems:

1. Batting points have a higher ceiling than bowling points. People do score 60, 70, 100 runs. How many times do we see bowlers take more than 4 wickets?

2. Bits and pieces players can chip in a wicket and 15 runs.

Here are the stats

Brandon King 422 runs gave him 422 points without SR bonus.
Alzarri Joseph 18 wickets gave him 270 points without Econ and Maiden bonus.

In the past I made wickets 20 because it appears to be a batters league. Then the bits and pieces men who bowl sugar but get 1 wicket and chip in 14 runs gave as much as a specialist bat who scored 34.

It is early so I am open to changes once people do not start picking teams.

if you want to go harder on batters then i might consider a bonus for SR 120+ (and 1 run = 1pt from 100 - < 120) and SR * runs for those <100 so if you score 15 at 99 you get 15 * 99/100 ...

overall bonus for those with good SRs and economy and penalties for those with poor SRs / economies - which you already have mostly...just the degrees of...

Maybe move the SR bonus back to >=120. Having it at 100 makes it more of a batters league

Brandon King was the best bat and Alzarri was the best wicket taker yet they get overtaken by more allround guys.

Kyle Mayers was second in runs and being able to take wickets put him 300+ more points than Brandon King. Johnson Charles not even in the top 11 despite being third in runs.

I would like to find a way to either reward specialist bats or depress the allrounder factor. Don't get me wrong Kyle Mayers deserves to be #1 given he had 8 wickets on top of 2nd in runs but the specialists have to be outstanding to get the same points as the allrounders.

Which is why I tried to give more points to economical bowlers. Dunno how to help the specialist bats though.

Another option would be to have criteria for the number of batters, bowlers and allrounders each team should have. Nick already said that didn't work in the past as posters submitted invalid teams and it complicated the FL. Also classifying some players may be problematic.

Other than setting limits to the number of allrounders in the team there is no other way to depress the allrounder factor.

Yes, picking an allrounder especially one that bats down the order runs the risk that they may not have the opportunity to contribute, just like Hardik today.

What about rewarding specialists with more points per run but doing so after they score a base figure. Said base staggered as per batting position. E.g Specialist batters 1-4 have to score more than 12 runs to start earning points. 5-7/9 and 8-11/5. In all cases once they pass base score they get standard points plus 5/6/8 for each run scored in pp1-overs 1-6, middle overs 7-14, death overs 15-20. Workable?

PS. A specialist may be demoted for any reason and bat after the 6th wicket has fallen

Dream XI which does the IPL and World cup FL have that system. Double the points for captain and 1.5 times the points for vice captain.

That did add another facet to the game

Chase is not my boy, but he definitely is a CPL bully. Remember those Shell Shield bullies from the 70s and 80? Anyway, I remembered that Chase was at the top of the points table in this CPL FL a few years ago. Add the fact that his recent selection to WI teams has been widely criticized, and we have a player with something to prove.

I really wanted to pick that Sri Lankan spinner who is playing for the Tridents (Theekshana?), but he will be leaving for the Asia Cup and who knows when or if he will be back. I saw where Mike decided to go ahead and pick him anyway. Those non-retired international players are risky pics. That's why I only have Faf and Wasim on my team.

But this is a marathon, not a sprint. I had 4 horses running last night. Others had two or three.

The rule in past FLs is that if a player leaves the CPL after playing a game, you don't get the replacement. But if the player does not show up or leaves the CPL before playing a game, you get the replacement player. It makes life easier for Nick

I generally avoid foreign players after being burned in the past, but I thought Faf was a safe pick because he is retired from international cricket. I had no idea he was carrying an injury.

A poster has a team. Every score is linked back to your team and then totaled.
If we did subs where you could replace a player who played with another player who has been playing you would end up with all the points of the new player for the whole tournament.

Also there are people who do not check in regularly.

The only solution I can think of is to use best players. So if you pick 11 use best 8 so if you lose a player it would not count. Would create crazy standings though with people jumping all over the place.

I picked Russell because of what he can do when he is fit. I picked him last year and he didn't do much so I am happy that he is performing this year and giving me points.

As Walco said Polly has been pushing others ahead of himself. Also he has not bowled much the last few years and with the recent shoulder injury in the MLC I was not expecting him to bowl. Pooran, Russell and Narine gave me 3 TKR players and I was not going to pick 4 from the same team.

If anything is wrong it would be a cricket score in a match. The program does the adding for me.

I ran the totals on the database. The following players total runs are wrong:

Arlo didn't open a can of worms on purpose. I noticed I was behind Walco by 4 pts after Q1 and still behind by 4 after Q2 even though Walco has King and he scored 5 runs.

Good that the scores are all up to date since we are heading to a photo finish tomorrow.

Brundog and I have the same players in the final, with the exception that I have Narine and he does not. Arlo and I have the same players in the finals, with the exception that he has Russell and I do not. Arlo also has the same players as Brundog, but Arlo also has Narine and Russell.
