One day Jamaicans will realize the greatness of Bob!
one of my favorite Rebel
Days pass and I'm still trying to wrap my head around this comment ....
Cannot be true...no way.

In reply to Chrissy A big Sinéad O'Connor fan that scene literally gave me chills have a couple of her CD, Ill look for them tomorrow and play them as my own little tribute. She is gone way too soon - RIP great one

Middle class Jamaica only acknowledged Bob after Time gave him Album of the century - and that isnt even his best album.
As my brethren seh Bob is Jamaicas Beethoven. There is a Marley song for every moment.
In reply to Chrissy
Nice
In reply to Chrissy
In that line of reasoning,
What about the lower class, for lack of better word, think of Bob?
Dennis Brown was viewed very favorably.
I would have thought middle to upper classes were more aligned to Bob..
In reply to Curtis
There must be a better word.
Still its a good question. Notice I said Jamaicans
In reply to Curtis
No the opposite!
The new generation does not seem to realize the greatness of Bob. He needs to be made a national hero so our kids can learn the greatness of this man. His music has inspired generations.
In reply to Chrissy
Chrissy you really need to change that to some Jamaicans. The enlightened Jamaicans already know that.
In reply to birdseye While you are at it take time to listen to her reggae album -Throw down your arms. She made this album in the early 2000s. Spear, Robbie and sly were involved.
BOB IS....ah tell yuh...Damn !
In reply to cricketmad
Agree - conscious Jamaicans of all classes always loved Marley
In reply to DonD Boss album
In reply to Chrissy Thanks for downloading this album . I didn't even know it was on youtube until about an hour ago. I bought this cd perhaps around 2005. Whenever I play this CD for fellow Jamaicans they always ask - A who dat a sing. To me, her version of Jah nuh dead is only bettered by Burning Spear's , where he was featured in one of the early Ja reggae movies- can't remember the name off hand. This is truly a boss cd. I believe the movie is Country Man - no! Rockers, with Horsemouth.
In reply to DonD
I have the CD
In reply to DonD Thanks for reminding me Throw down your arms is the title of her first Reggae album produced by Sly and Robbie at Tuff Gong Studios, Kingston Jamaica

I was actually at a Moravian church a few years ago and the pastor did 2 very good Bob tunes during his sermon. It was well received.
In reply to nitro
My late cousin was head of the Moravian church in JA. They are into liberation theology and are progressives unlike those I mentioned
Seventh day Adventist is an arm of the JLP.
In reply to Chrissy
In reply to birdseye Moravian is big in Manchester, St. Elizabeth and, eastern Westmoreland, have a friend from St. Mary who said she had never heard of them before she came to Mandeville. I consider them the same as Anglican, Methodist and Episcopalian.
In reply to camos
I was at the funeral of a close friends nephew recently. And yes they are all from Manchester. One of my former students was there with her mum. I finally met her mum and it turns out that they were all Moravians and the mum knew all my Manchester cousins. My cousins father was the Moravian minister in St Bess but he was sent to then British Guiana.
In reply to camos
Yes, this Moravian church was in Lititz, St. Bess. They called him the singing pastor.
In reply to nitro
My cousins dad was one of the original Moravian pastors in Lititz. His peeps came from Nicaragua. Were talking pre WW2.
In reply to Chrissy
Cool. They do have a listing on one of the walls of their pastors over the years.
They started Hampton High School and Bethlehem Teachers College not sure about Munro.
In reply to camos
Munro and Hampton were built by the Munro and Dickenson Trust.
Bethlehem Moravian College.. well that is obvious.
In reply to nitro
Correct
Its a shame that it is not a collective recognition by all "Jamaicans" and that social structure norms is an impediment.
I once read or looked at a piece on Bob which related how he sought out his fathers' Kinfolk in his early days. As expected
he received short thrift by the original Marleys - then, owner of the name . The piece made a point of emphasizing that with the passage
of time, how the name "Marley" became synonymous with Bob and Bob alone - he came to own it.
In my book, Bob has worldwide recognition alongside icons as Che Guevara, Ali, Jordan, Pele ....or maybe not so and I am just being biased.
I won't mention Bolt...Ah doh want certain yardies pon here getting to swell headed
