Another Jesus Christ challenge

Drapsey 2023-08-16 11:26:54

These 5 historical truths suggest Jesus Christ may have never existed | Opinion

Most antiquities scholars think that the New Testament gospels are "mythologized history." In other words, based on the evidence available they think that around the start of the first century a controversial Jewish rabbi named Yeshua ben Yosef gathered a following and his life and teachings provided the seed that grew into Christianity. At the same time, these scholars acknowledge that many Bible stories like the virgin birth, miracles, resurrection, and women at the tomb borrow and rework mythic themes that were common in the Ancient Near East, much the way that screenwriters base new movies on old familiar tropes or plot elements. In this view, a "historical Jesus" became mythologized.

Ok Barry, it's just someone's opinion (not even mine).

Come on Bro, you are a better man than this.

I challenge you to research the Quran's story on Jesus of Nazareth- all the scientific evidence, and all other verifiable historical facts can be found- now also know all reputable historians, including those who do not believe in GOD or organized religion, have researched the Quran- some have changed their opinion after Quranic research.

Don't allow the Euro-Paganized version of the historical Jesus Christ of Nazareth to cloud your judgement. I agree their version of his resurrection and that he was god in man etc is classic ancient pagan mythology.

[N]either human effort nor the emperor’s generosity nor the placating of the gods ended the scandalous belief that the fire had been ordered [by Nero]. Therefore, to put down the rumor, Nero substituted as culprits and punished in the most unusual ways those hated for their shameful acts … whom the crowd called “Chrestians.” The founder of this name, Christ [Christus in Latin], had been executed in the reign of Tiberius by the procurator Pontius Pilate … Suppressed for a time, the deadly superstition erupted again not only in Judea, the origin of this evil, but also in the city [Rome], where all things horrible and shameful from everywhere come together and become popular.5

Roman historian Tacitus’s last major work, titled Annals, written c. 116–117 C.E., includes a biography of Nero.

Tacitus’s terse statement about “Christus” clearly corroborates the New Testament on certain historical details of Jesus’ death. Tacitus presents four pieces of accurate knowledge about Jesus: (1) Christus, used by Tacitus to refer to Jesus, was one distinctive way by which some referred to him, even though Tacitus mistakenly took it for a personal name rather than an epithet or title; (2) this Christus was associated with the beginning of the movement of Christians, whose name originated from his; (3) he was executed by the Roman governor of Judea; and (4) the time of his death was during Pontius Pilate’s governorship of Judea, during the reign of Tiberius. (Many New Testament scholars date Jesus’ death to c. 29 C.E.; Pilate governed Judea in 26–36 C.E., while Tiberius was emperor 14–37 C.E.6)

Ok Emir, here is my Quran story.

My daughter (the eldest child) is married to a Bangladeshi, a Muslim of course.

I was the only one from my family who attended the wedding. I had to do the give-away thing, of course. That was the first time I ever met an Imam.

One of the groom's friends, a Dr at the Einstein College of Medicine, realizing that I've never been exposed to anything Islamic, decided to gift me a Quran. Beautifully bound book it was. I took it home with firm plans to get a read as soon as time afforded.

When ready to take a read, the book couldn't be found anywhere. According to my son, my wife used a gloved hand to toss it out with the garbage. There went my opportunity to read the offerings of the Quran.

What you learnt about Jesus in your Catholic Church is much like you- fake news

wink

Therefore in all things it behooved Him to be made like unto His brethren, that He might be a merciful and faithful High Priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.
ASV
Wherefore it behooved him in all things to be made like unto his brethren, that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people.
AMP
Therefore, it was essential that He had to be made like His brothers (mankind) in every respect, so that He might [by experience] become a merciful and faithful High Priest in things related to God, to make atonement (propitiation) for the people’s sins [thereby wiping away the sin, satisfying divine justice, and providing a way of reconciliation between God and mankind].
AMPC
So it is evident that it was essential that He be made like His brethren in every respect, in order that He might become a merciful (sympathetic) and faithful High Priest in the things related to God, to make atonement and propitiation for the people’s sins.
