Change has accelerated, good to see France is being pushed out, enough of the exploitation. Just imagine Niger has more yellow cake uranium than any other country and it fuels France energy system, but Niger has no develop energy system to speak about and over fifty percent of its citizens have no electricity in their houses.

Eritrea also
But who can fix it
Any foreign investment will be in favour of the developed nations’ big dogs in mining and refining
And the host country have no capital to do it themselves

The issue is processing in the exploited country. No exporting of raw materials with some processing. Create some jobs and spinoff economic activity in the exploited country.

Use the Chinese to create a competition for raw materials.

The Chinese will undoubtedly fill any void .

Now they find billion dollARS IN HIS HOUSE stashed like a drug dealer clearly he did not want to leave a paper trail or people knowing where it came from by putting it in bank.

The idiot next door in Equatorial Guinea must surely be next, oh! ...Despite EG not being Francophone; for that we still have Ivory Coast, Senegal and Togo to go.

Dunno if is anything like that. They’re saying the dude was either a cousin or an in law of Bongo who is also very wealthy and has properties in France and the USA. He seems like just another dude who is taking his turn at the treasury tut tuts

Brerzerk 2023-08-31 17:09:44

But will this coup relieve the country of holding its net foreign reserves in The French Central Bank?
Sometimes France itself orchestrates these coups when one of their despots 'stray' replace like for preferred
when like seems weak or a threat to France's prosperity. How has DRC (previously) Zaire done since Sese Seko was ousted?
How much of the failure is internal strife and or French meddling?

It couldn't happen to a nicer guy - mek noise!

Man dem raid the treasury living high while the poor suffer and die

JayMor 2023-08-31 19:14:42

Africans now are fast forming the opinion that this Gabon case was actually aided, if not engineered, by the French! They apparently saw Bongo as cozying up to the Chinese too much. If true, let's hope good sense will prevail and they 'wise' up to the people's plight.

These coups enable selfish power-hungry generals a moment they thought they’d never have in life
Hardly ever represents a long term will of the people beyond the usual “ we don’t like the current leader”

That, by and large, has been the case in general. Agreed. But almost anything to replace French hegemony is at least a good first step to me.

Not so in the case of a Junior Army Officer/Pilot named Jerry Rawlings

And Thomas Sankara. Yeah. Rawlings wasn’t greedy at all. After Sankara was assassinated, Rawlings started training his office staff to use rifles. Saw it in The Africans:A Triple heritage by Ali Mazrui

It appears that Niger accounts for about 5% of uranium ore production:

Why should France be responsible for developing another country's electricity system?

One must look at the big picture... Right now the African continent is volatile... As of now leaders are worrying who is next to be removed.

Once the leader governs in terror, then he or she must live in fear of the army and the people!
