Independence day ,Where does T&T stand at 61?
Dear Editor,
I am writing to express my concerns regarding the recent article published in the T&T Guardian.
The individuals responsible for editing. I acknowledge the caption "What is the current standing of Trinidad and Tobago at the age of 61?" Since gaining independence from colonial rule in 1962, there has been a noticeable lack of significant advancement.
The current circumstances, reminiscent of those of 1962, have reached a critical juncture where our attempts to ensure the safety and security of our population have proven unsuccessful. A state is classified as a failed state when its government is unable to provide essential services. In light of the substantial revenue derived from the minerals possessed by the populace of T&T, it has come to that the mismanagement of these resources has led to the recognition that poverty serves as a catalyst for criminal activity. The phenomenon of leadership in post-independence era has resulted in the emergence of racial divisions between the African and Indian communities, primarily driven by politics centred around racial identity. The prevailing sentiment expressed is a steadfast commitment to supporting a certain political party without respect for policies or stances that may have broad implications for the entire populace.
The aforementioned event was observed at the most recent Local Government Election (LGE).
What are the present issues faced by Trinidad and Tobago?
The lack of proficient leadership
Insufficient delivery of healthcare services
The lack of an uninterrupted water provision.
The continuous and dependable supply of electricity.
The current operational efficiency of the facilities at Pt Lisas is seen to be below 50% as a result of an insufficiency in the supply of natural gas.
The concept of crime pertains to any act or activity that contravenes existing laws and regulations.
The substandard state of roadways and the prevalence of landslides are indicators of an insufficiency in infrastructure.
The prevalence of homicides has surged to an unprecedented level, establishing the nation as the sixth most prominent in terms of international standings.
The occurrence of flooding in both the Capital City and the agricultural districts
The Prime Minister, in the role as the chief executive responsible for national security endeavours, along with the Minister of National Security, conducts their operations with a notable absence of public discourse.
After carefully examining the aforementioned Challenges T&T, could you provide any evidence that demonstrates advancements made over the past decade?
Prime Minister Rowley expressed remorse in his Independence Day remarks for the shortcomings he has encountered during his tenure spanning eight years. Why do citizens of Trinidad and Tobago continue to vote for the same politicians, despite the lack of tangible changes? Have they not gleaned any lessons from historical experiences? These politicians amass fortune through disregarding conflicts of interest and engaging in contractual arrangements with foreign governments that include non-disclosure provisions. Examine the accumulation of wealth by incumbent government ministers over an 8-year tenure, juxtaposed with the reliance on meal cards and hampers.
Today is your 61st birthday, prompting reflection on the accomplishments that have been attained and are worthy of celebration. Residential properties are enclosed by barbed wire and reinforced with rebar, while children residing within these premises are unfortunately subjected to the perilous risk of being struck by stray gunshots.
Over the course of the past eight years, a significant number of African adolescents, over 3000 in count, have tragically lost their lives. Additionally, there have been reports of invasions on residential areas, resulting in the unfortunate loss of lives among senior citizens. Disturbingly, instances of sexual assault against daughters and fatal shootings of sons have also been reported. It is disconcerting to note that these incidents have occurred amidst a perceived lack of response or acknowledgment from the Prime Minister's office.
Why T&T, what have you evolved into?

Forget all of that. The Carnival all-inclusives have gotten more expensive.
The Trudeau government has also failed to address serious human rights concerns beyond Canadas border, including impunity for abuses by Canadian mining companies overseas. Canada also continues to ignore the need to adopt and implement robust climate mitigation policies. For over three years, the government has also rebuffed calls by Canada-based family members and top United Nations officials to repatriate dozens of Canadians, most of them children, unlawfully detained in life-threatening conditions in northeast Syria.

So sad- all these countries keep failing- the whole world is a failed state

Cant even get clean water to drink
Decades of structural and systemic discrimination against Indigenous peoples has led to widespread abuses that persist across Canada.
Inadequate access to clean, safe drinking water continues to pose a major public health concern in many Indigenous communities and impede efforts to advance Indigenous rights in Canada, one of the worlds most water-rich countries.
The government of Prime Minister Trudeau committed to end all drinking water advisories on First Nations reserves by 2021 but, as of September, 28 First Nations communities across Canada remained subject to long-term water advisories, which alert communities when their water is not safe to drink.

Vulnerable women
In May, a Statistics Canada report found that 81 percent of Indigenous women who had been in the child-welfare system had been physically or sexually assaulted in their lifetime.
In June 2021, the federal government published a report promising a series of transformative changes to address persistent discrimination and violence against Indigenous women and gender-diverse people. That year, the Trudeau government released a National Action Plan in response to the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls' findings and recommendations. In June, an assessment by the Native Womens Association of Canada on the governments performance deemed it to be a failure.

In the context of Trinidad and Tobago, it can be observed that a mere mention of Montano or Carnival is sufficient to prompt the less discerning members of society to seek financial assistance from banks in order to partake in the festivities.
In the context of T&T, there exists an individual on this thread who displays a persistent fixation on my presence, perceiving my existence in many manifestations. I am figuratively situated within the void between this individual's ear lobes. I disregard his presence.

Whos the enormous dunce who wrote this? Apparently there was no racism in TT prior to 1962. That is like the dunce or subversive editor of the express saying that the drug trade in TT only goes back 50 years. As if Boysie Singh was a figment of our collective imaginations

It is disheartening when a someone have the ability to read but struggles to comprehend and internalize the information.
Did I include any references to events or information that occurred prior to 1962 in my blog post?It is evident that I did not mention the pre-Independence era, and I would assume that you possess the intellectual capacity to recognize its absence.
I am corresponding from the year 1962, which marks the attainment of independence by Trinidad and Tobago, up until the present time. I am curious if you have observed the passage of 61 years or if you have had difficulties in mathematical calculations.
However, you seem inclined to label me as unintelligent...

Canada's Danielle McGahey is set to become the first transgender cricketer to play in an official international match during qualifying for the 2024 Women's T20 World Cup.
Opening batter McGahey, 29, has been selected by Cricket Canada as they embark on the pathway to the finals in Bangladesh.
They will take on Argentina, Brazil and the United States in the ICC Americas Qualifier in Los Angeles starting next week for a place in the Global Qualifiers.
Australian McGahey moved to Canada in February 2020 and began socially transitioning from a man to a woman in November 2020 and then medically transitioning in May 2021.
Cricket has not joined the likes of rugby, athletics, cycling and swimming in banning transgender women from taking part in elite women's competition.

the dunce has identified himself.
You mentioned post independence saw the emergence of racial division
Definition of emergence: the fact of starting to exist or becoming known for the first time(Oxford dictionary Link Text)
The statement you made is saying that the racism in TT started in the post independence era.
Why dont you complain about something legitimate dude? Like Unions which cause decisions to take eons of time according to the head of the Energy chamber of Trinidad and Tobago). People complain about crime but nobody complains about how these guys get access to bail. And in fact their access to bail has increased because, now thanks to a decision taken by the privy council, they can now get bail for murder, in addition to the bail bill being defeated twice when it was brought to parliament

The T&T Guardian opinion
I am just commenting on 61 years since independence nothing more .
In reply to sgtdjones
The nation wasnt divided before 1962? As I said, your statement said post independence was followed by the emergence of racial tensions. Which both you and I know is hogwash. Secondly, where does TT stand: we have some challenges yes
..let me see, by far the most educated populace in the Caribbean( aside from Cuba) and must rank amongst the most educated in the Western Hemisphere
.which ironically is a problem because when everyone has a masters degree, then you really could never get the job you want.
We have crime, and home invasions are particularly disturbing but that could easily be solved by those men, many of them repeat offenders being not given access to bail
and also having their matters dealt with quickly, letting them serve their sentence and rehabilitating them into the society. And is not like in prison these guys dont have access to skills training. You will never hear any of the morons complaining about crime talking about the fact that many matters take years to adjudicate for know plausible reason.

It is evident that you did not thoroughly review the content I previously presented, as I provided a comprehensive explanation in the aforementioned blog post.
This discussion primarily focuses on the progress and challenges experienced by Trinidad and Tobago in the 61 years following its independence, without delving into additional topics.I am not addressing specific instances...
Since achieving freedom from colonial domination in 1962, a discernible dearth of substantial progress has not been observed.
I have enumerated a selection of items What are the current challenges encountered by Trinidad & Tobago?
Why do you find it challenging to comprehend? Please examine your aforementioned tirade, since it does not pertain to the content of my previous contributions in two separate discussions.
Happy Independence Day, T&T.
Hope something positive and memorable comes out of this year for you. Big up.

The unrealized potential of two islands in the Caribbean is a matter of concern, as their capacity for development and growth, if effectively harnessed via competent leadership, could have resulted in a level of prosperity comparable to that of Singapore.
The politicians are collectively increasing their financial assets, while neglecting to acknowledge the presence of conflicts of interest. On more than 400 instances, the cabinet members were mandated to evacuate the cabinet room during deliberations.A particular cabinet member's family receives an annual sum of 23 million dollars in rental income from the government.
Moreover, a substantial fraction of parliamentary members are affiliated with businesses that actively participate in the procurement of government contracts. Prime Minister Rowley is in possession of a real estate portfolio with an estimated value of five million dollars. The populace is faced with a myriad of obstacles, encompassing heightened rates of unemployment, insufficient provision of natural gas to the Pt Lisas facilities, scarcity of water resources, and subpar road infrastructure, among several other concerns.
Throughout an extended duration of eight years, the Prime Minister has continuously ascribed his perceived inadequacy in leadership to the opposing political faction. The person under consideration originates from the island of Tobago and had a substantial electoral loss, with a margin of 14-1 in the most recent election.
When a government is unable of guaranteeing the safety and security of its citizens, it might be categorized as a failed state.

All of your plants at PT Lisas and Petrotrin were engineered abroad in Canada and Germany, tells a story doesn't it doofus. Even your gas to liquids that's having problems cannot be solved in T&T. Simulations are being carried out at the Gas institute and Technology in Chicago.
Your plant to converts Natural gas to DME and methanol was engineered in Japan...
My Company designed and built the first one in Korea.
You will not have sufficient natural gas to supply all your needs until 2030, will such plants be disassembled before then and shipped elsewhere. You produce 2.4 and need 4.2 bcft per day.

Are T&T better off? ABSOLUTELY NOT! After 61 years of Independence, what can we honestly applaud? Lack of water, potholes damaging vehicles, overall poor maintenance, ease of not doing business, escalating crime, lack of vision and planning, sufferings of the people, unaffordable duties on a quality vehicle, years awaiting VAT returns, languished forex problems, banks giving $200 for a family of four to travel, frustrated citizens living in self-imposed jails we call home, isnt a governments pivotal responsibility is to protect and create better living standards for its citizens.?

One of the important factors contributing to its esteemed reputation is the presence of Murray Moo Young, a famous professor emeritus with a notable background of Russian Jamaican heritage. He was the one of the first university researcher to develop a live protein derived from grass, demonstrating significant advancement in the field of biotechnology compared to his peers. This phenomenon arises from the substantial number of companies that actively recruit and hire these graduates.

Upon observing the Space lab, one may discern the presence of the Cañada arm, which was constructed at the University of Toronto and NRC.The discovery of insulin took place at this esteemed academic institution. Several discoveries have been made.

In reply to Halliwell
We do not engage in direct competition with Halliburton. However, we do compete against Aker, and it is worth noting that we have not encountered any instances when we have lost a proposal to them.
We emerged victorious in a project conducted at the Chemical University of Technology in Beijing, China. The project involved the establishment of more than twelve pilot plants and a Process Development Unit (PDU), all of which were equipped with advanced computerized systems. It is possible to exert influence over such units from Canada.
When a scientist develops a procedure in the laboratory and wants to determine whether or not it will function outside of such facilities, we are the experts to call. Many of such do not work.
Our area of expertise pertains to situations when a scientist has successfully established a technique within a laboratory setting and seeks to determine its viability and functionality outside of controlled laboratory conditions. In order to see the progression from bench scale to pilot demonstration units (PDUs), it is necessary to utilize a diverse range of plants. These plants may vary in size, ranging from a one litre capacity to a substantial 5000 barrels, as exemplified by our project in Montreal.

A unit was built for NRC that operates at 3000C and 100,000 psig. The tiles on the space shuttle was developed using this method in a hot Isostatic press.
Yes, it takes experience and knowledge to build such research plants. They are kept in explosion proof buildings underground , with the weakest point being the roof , so the shock wave heads upwards. Read up ASME section 8 .
