Delayed transfer leads to drop out

More than a year after a Plum Mitan family applied for a school transfer for their 14-year-old granddaughter so she could continue her education, they are still awaiting a response from the Ministry of Education (MOE). As a result, the teenager has become a school dropout.
Rehana Badaloo, whose name has been changed to protect her identity, sat the 2022 Secondary Entrance Assessment (SEA) examination and was placed at Biche Secondary School. However, due to financial constraints she has not been able to attend school.

Last July, her 68-year-old grandmother, Deoragie Baldeo, requested a transfer to Manzanilla Secondary School which is closer to their home. To date, they have not received any response to that request.
Rehana is one of 2,814 students who dropped out of school between the start of 2020 and the end of 2022. Approximately 151 pupils in government primary schools and 2,663 secondary school students quit school during that period.

The figures were provided to the Sunday Guardian by the Ministry of Education following a Freedom of Information request.

Look at her home in the article sad sad

I used to walk that Grant's Rd...mow its a thoroughfare...and residents are scared to walk the road as there are no pavements and the traffic is ridiculous all day and night.

The Kamla PP government had finished the highway till Grant;s Rd....now Growley is trying to open it to Point Fortin after so many years

The establishment of a convenient highway passage between San Fernando and Point Fortin, two significant industrial, business, and residential regions of the country, has been a protracted and intricate process for individuals seeking efficient transportation for themselves and their business operations.Despite the existing constraints, it should be noted that traffic will continue to be restricted to one side of the roadway in both directions. There is currently no information available regarding the potential impact of marine destruction on the Mosquito Creek route.

The building of the San Fernando to Point Fortin Extension of the Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway has been marred by disruptive politics and many mistakes, resulting in lingering negative consequences. In addition to the aforementioned grievances, the undisclosed expenses that are still to be determined and are considered to stem from the purported corruption and mismanagement, are estimated to reach hundreds of millions of dollars. This further underscores the significance of the event.

Dr Rowley, who has a degree in Geology, explained that he has vast experience with crushed rock, which is a key component in construction.

“I am a trained geologist; I was the first manager that was hired by National Quarries Limited to start that company to produce crush rock for the Point Lisas development and everywhere in the country. At one time, I was responsible for producing crush rock to build the Twin Towers, the stadium, the Point Lisas Port, the San Fernando Highway and the Mt Hope Hospital.”

Rowley is an expert at Crushed gravel, can one imagine what would happen if after University, you tell your parents you are an expert at "Crushed gravel"?..Most parents would say get ya mudda rass outa me house.
