J.Johnson should be in A tour to South Africa

Onionman0 2023-09-16 04:54:07

With 348 runs against Sri Lanka in spinners track in just 3 innings.... average would be good training for him in fast pitch... several senior members will surely be part of that impending tour....playing along side Tage & rest would be exposure..... Johnson would learn from.....

Leff the kid alone. A good plan has already
been established.
Jordan is a Lucas player from childhood - part of the Headley emerging players set up. He was a star at St Hugh’s prep cricket level, a star at Wolmers and is clearly a future star.
He will play in the 50 overs coming up.

And don’t forget to thank Onry.

I had also posted that Johnson should go to SA but perhaps Chrissy is right. Let him play at least one season of senior cricket at home before he is let loose on the poor unsuspecting world big grin big grin.

Why should he not go on tour? He is better than everyone we have in the senior team?

We dont know that because he is playing against U19 bowling and they are playing against international bowling. We can only suspect that he will be successful at the senior level because of his approach to the game. I think Chrissy's point is that he should develop incrementally from U19 to regionals to international. If he does play Super 50s and continues on the same trajectory, he will probably be in the team for England tour at the end of the year.

If he's he's good enough, he's old enough - no kid! Whisper is 17, no?

Agree. Give him the exposure.

What you talking about is the general steps for any player .... Johnson is an exceptional talent.... exceptional talent requires exception to general rules or steps....just like Tendulkar or Rashid Khan....being part of South Africa tour would be great developmental learning step for the kid.... even as extra , carrying drinks...what matters sharing platform and/ or dressing room with international players...facing alien conditions....., moreover, he 348 runs in red ball cricket.... purported plan for Johnson development is to play him in white ball 50 overs... bizarre.... that my take...

All should be part of South Africa point selecting Reifer & et al...players, with users date long gone....
