Fazil Sattaur an aggressive middle order batsman from Guyana who played some 10 first class matches for Guyana and Berbice passed away today at the age of 58.He was nicknamed the Terminator for his aggressive approach to some fast bowlers and brought much joy to his fans.He was a popular figure and later in his career played cricket in Canada. Many former cricketers were devastated by his passing and my deepest condolences to his friends and family..

Here is what a former Guyana middle order batsman wrote about "the Terminator" on hearing of his passing

Oh no!! This is really sad to hear.Sattaur was one of my competition to get into the Guyana team.I remember batting in a trial match with him and he was encouraging me to bat and score runs.He always said a few supportive words too when he was on the opposing side.He was a quiet guy, off the field but brave, dynamic and confident with a bat.RIP champion and may your many cricket memories live on forever.

Never heard of him! Since leaving Guyana, the only Guyanese player I heard of with any kind of reputation that didn’t play for West Indies was Sudesh Dhaniram!
The other Indian player “Blacks” can’t think of his name right now was playing U19 when I left.

Colin and I were at QC together and at one time there were 3 brothers all in my House-Nobbs House.Errol,Colin and Trevor Jackman.

Sattaur played a lot of his cricket in the U.S. and Canada after he migrated here in the mid-90s.

He played a few matches for Canada too. A very hard hitting batsman but a very humble fellow too.

Never knew of him playing in Guyana, but remembered him playing for Canada. May he rest in peace. Condolences to his family.

If memory serves me right I think he played for Canada in of the World Cup games.....

He played only a few games for Guyana in the late 80's. Wasn't a regular member of that squad.

He and his younger brother (nicknamed 'Birdie') played for Canada in the 2003 WC in South Africa.

Former Guyana cricketer Fazil Sattaur passes on in Canada

Former Guyana batsman Fazil "Terminator" Sattaur has passed away earlier tonight at the Brampton Civic Hospital in Ontario, Canada at age 58.
His younger brother Abdool Samad confirmed that Fazil succumbed due to brain stroke.
Fazil represented Berbice in Inter-County cricket and also Guyana at the highest level with 10 first-class matches.
He migrated to Canada in 1995 and also suited up for the North America nation at the international level.
Samad featured for Canada too.
Meanwhile, Aftab Shamsudeen, a family-friend of Sattaur brothers, stated he was saddened with his passing.
Shamsudeen also came from Berbice and mentioned that he was guided by Fazil as a young aspiring cricketer. Shamsudeen eventually went on to represent Canada.
"He will be always remembered for what he had done for some talented youngsters including myself, but his death is very sad," Shamsudeen related.
Known for his destructive approach, Shamsudeen recalled seeing some great innings from Fazil during his representation for popular Cavalier Sports Club in Canada.
Another first-class cricketer who played with Sattaur and now lives in Canada as well Arjune Nandu also expressed his condolences to the family.
Sunil Dhaniram, another Berbice team-mate of Fazil was shocked to learn of Fazil's death. He mentioned that Fazil was an entertainer of the game and it is definitely a sad day for the cricketing fraternity, both in Canada and Guyana.
Fazil left four daughters and a son to grieve. He will be laid to rest Wednesday in Etobicoke, just on the outskirt of famous city Toronto.

An Obituary I received last night. Played against him in a Bristol Semifinal in the early 80’s for Malteenos against Albion and became friends in Canada until I left. Very humble and always respectful but had a disdain for opposing bowlers! RIP big man!🙏🙏

Dukes, In the late 70s I captained Finance at Inter-Ministry level. Our Deputy AG, Winston Churchill Nicholls, always came to the games along with AG Sills and co. Nichols often spoke of the Jackman boys, said that they were his grandsons. I never knew if he meant it affectionately, but I got the feeling they really were. I remember one game we played Education at GDF ground and Education made 160 odd. Of course, Nichols and co gave us hell and left at half time. But we won that game and I never let him live it down. He passed last year?? I attended the viewing and lots of folks from Finance were there. He was a good sport, knew how to have a good time.
