Warriors finally win a toss - will bowl
Guyana Amazon Warriors have won the toss and have opted to field
In reply to Narper
New post, just realised. Time for GAW to lift the trophy. I am backing them to do so.
Knight Riders XI: Chadwick Walton, Mark Deyal, Nicholas Pooran (wk), Keacy Carty, Kieron Pollard (c), Andre Russell, Dwayne Bravo, Sunil Narine, Akeal Hosein, Ali Khan, Waqar Salamkheil
Imran Tahir: Bowling first gives a better chance tow in. It's a big occasion for us. Tthe result is not in our hands, but we will play the same brand of cricket. Keemo Paul comes in as a a batter. Really happy to have him, he has been a key part and he is fine to go.
Kieron Pollard: We expected to bat first today. It's just a matter of coming out and executing our skills. We have all waited for this moment. I have played so many finals, there is not much emotion. Most important thing for me is to contribute. I want to give my best for the players who haven't played a final. Guyana has been playing really good cricket. We are fortunate to have this chance to win the final, it's about enjoying the moment, enjoy the game. Narine comes back in the team
Daren Ganga on the pitch report says only Qualifier 1 and 2 were played on this pitch. There is some wear and tear of the footmarks and some highly populated areas on the pitch with grass and root structure which could make it a little tricky. There could be irregular pace and bounce but batting has generally dominated on this track. Conditions aren't overcast so dew isn't expected to have a lot of say today
In reply to Windiesfan78
Poor Tahir ..a loss on his resume after winning the toss
Amazon Warriors have won the toss and opted to bowl first

An excellent bowling display from Warriors to keep TKR to a subpar 94 at their home ground in front of a jam-packed crowd. Imran Tahir led the way, outfoxing Russell and Bravo in a frugal spell of 2/8 while Motie was as cool as a cucumber, showing no nerves in the all-important final, picking up two wickets and only conceding seven runs, taking the prized scalp of Kieron Pollard. But once again, the pick of the bowlers was Pretorius who used all his bag of tricks and snapped up four wickets, including the massive wicket of Pooran. TKR tried to go hard at the bowlers from ball one and there were hardly any ground shots and attempts to find boundaries. They just couldn't break free throughout the innings meandering their way to 94. It could be a straightforward chase for team in red-hot-form. I will be back with you for the chase. Cheers.

Keemo Paul: Well, we have an amazing brotherhood in the team. Imran Bhai is all about staying close together, staying as a unit and staying as a family. I think the camaraderie was excellent.
Despair on one hand and joy on the other! Congratulations to Amazon Warriors and commiserations to Knight Riders who end up on the losing side. Imran Tahir is in tears and very emotional.
"This is special feeling, I am a really proud man, proud father. I love all the nation. I am really grateful to almighty. I had a belief in myself and I am really happy. Love everyone, says Imran Tahir

Thank you Pow
Fitting finale for GAW. Well deserved victory by the best team in the tournament. Tremendous support from tbe Guyanese fans. Finally they win the CPL!

Told you they would get the job done. You could see what it meant to the team and fans. The only team left to win the tournament would be SLK.

What a knock from Saim Ayub. It was a perfect innings in this low-scoring affair. Ayub was jumped all over by his teammates as he hit the winning runs and he is overwhelmed by emotions. A wide grin on Hope's face as well as Guyana fans are flying high in the aisles. Stick around as we bring you all the coverage of the post-match celebrations!
Shai Hope: Runs that contribute to win have been my focus. (most special knock) Probably hundred, first time I crossed the milestone in T20 cricket. I was just trying to score runs to win games and the tournament. Everything I did, they (support staff) always encouraged me, backed me to do my job and play my role. Just feels like a family, I am just happy to be in this franchise. (On Saim Ayub) I thought we both saw off each other well. He is a quality player, just love to see him bat. He is very easy on the eye and I hope he can continue going from strength to strength and probably get into that Pakistan team. Just a huge thank you (fans). You have been amazing, electrifying every single time we came to play here, you supported us through thick and thin and this is for you guys. Thank you.
Shai Hope: I just wanted to take responsibility and make sure I win games for the team. Thanks for the support (fans), we needed it. You have been with us. We got this one for you guys!
Saim Ayub: I don't know what to say I am too excited. We bring home the title first time and obviously the fans would be very excited. Our team was very lovely. This is for our fans.
Azam Khan: It's an unreal feeling playing at home. Guyana has a special place in my heart. I think it's for the Guyanese fans who waited for so long. I have never won a tournament before so Guyana this one is for you (chuckles)
Keemo Paul: Well, we have an amazing brotherhood in the team. Imran Bhai is all about staying close together, staying as a unit and staying as a family. I think the camaraderie was excellent.

Guyana and Trinidad have the best support in the region. I dare say Guyana has more, not an empty seat in the crowd.
A Bajan in the mix with Mr. Hope being the highest run scorer. Last year it was Brooks, this year it is Hope.
Player of the match award goes to Dwaine Pretorius for his amazing spell of 4/26
The biggest six award goes to Rahkeem Cornwall for clobbering 110 meters six
Alex Hales win the award for highest individual score
Best bowling figures goes to Waqar Salamkheil (4/14 versus Barbados Royals)
Shai Hope wins the highest run scorer of the season award
Sixth time lucky for the Warriors as they finally cross the finish line after ending up as runners-up on five previous occasions. They richly deserved the title win, having been supremely consistent in the group stage, managing five consecutive wins and being superbly led by the aging warrior, Imran Tahir
Sana: "What a knock from Saim Ayub. A guy this young with this much talent is surely an asset. This is the first one of many to get man.....More power to you."
