1-0 in favor of Canada at half time!

JoeGrine 2023-11-18 17:38:23

GK : Blake (7.5) didn’t do much and blameless for the goals.
RB : Limbikisa (7) but for a couple defensive miscues he was for me the best right back performance I have seen from a Jamaican in recent memory. Surprisingly substituted.
CH : Bernard (7) quite disciplined and steady.
CH : Pinnock (7.5) made some timely tackles to thwart goal opportunities for the Canadians. But for his part in the Canadian goal, I would have given him a 9.
LB : Leigh (7) I repeat, Jamaica’s best left back. Just the same, he played a crucial role in the Canadian goal.
RM : DeCordova-Reid (7.5) did well in attack and coming back to defend.
CM : Latibeaudierre (6) industrious defending but harmless going forward.
CM : Johnson (6.5) had a decent game but is not the creative threat, which is sorely needed, however, Coach Grim has made it clear Ravel Morrison is not a part of his plans.
LM : Bailey (5) wasteful in front of goal, bushing three chances including a very clear one. Cost Jamaica a result and perhaps the game.
F : Nicholson (7) hard to grade Jamaican forwards when their passes are being supplied by Pinnock. Did put away his chance.
F : Stewart (5.0) good to see him get on the pitch in a game of this magnitude. Not quite ready but the experience will help him.

1. Those talking about “Jamaican speed” need to stop with the stupid talk. I watch Canada repeatedly run by Jamaica players the last goal was the worse when Lareya ran effortlessly by Phillips (fresh legs) and Johnson. WHAT JAMAICAN SPEED?
2. Coach Grim, against better teams you need a creative midfielder and that individual is not in the current squad.
3. What of Omari Hutchinson?
4. No Lowe, however, Bernard did well in partnership with Pinnock.

Jamaica miss Gray big time today!

The team is stagnant, no progress against a top rated team!

JoeGrine 2023-11-18 17:54:01

In reply to XDFIX

Absolutely. What Gray can do is create goals for himself. There's no one else on this team that can do that, so they need a creative midfielder. The Coach is either incapable of coaching a team with a CM or Ravel (the current best candidate) must have greatly upset him.

granite 2023-11-18 18:57:35

Looks like the one man that can score for Jamaica and it's Bailey,Canada doh look good up front too although they scored with a good one man effort. The first half looked like no team could score.Hopefully a better second half.I always wonder, why do these teams use the flanks more often,Jam got speed and playing it wide could open up the game, more excitement and I feel goals could come specially for the Boyz.

granite 2023-11-18 19:28:37

I didn't see the Yard equaliser and neither did see the Canadian winner,I lost interest because I didn't see the typical Jam team,no individual skills speed and fight.Better luck in Canada.

JoeGrine 2023-11-22 02:41:22

Great win away from home to get into the COPA!

GK : Blake (9.0) made some spectacular saves especially in the first half. It sure helped in the final outcome.
RB : Lembikisa (8.5) I repeat what I said after the first Canadian game, turn over the right back position to the young man, he has earned it.
The way he guarded Alphonso Davies was commendable.
CB : Lowe (7.5) a decent shift very industrious. Held up well playing CDM
CB : Pinnock (8.0) very stable and heady. Also went forward on occasions. Made key interceptions and markings in the 2nd half.
LB : Leigh (7.5) Jamaica’s best left back. Hope not a serious injury.
LM : Gray (8.5) easily one of the best in CONCACAF, his class shows with every touch. Set up two goals in the first half which were missed. Has to keep his cool, we needed him in the dying moments on the pitch.
CDM : Latibeaudierre (5.5) contributed to the first goal against us. He needs to be dropped from the squad and Lambert recalled.
AM : Johnson (6.0) tires his best, however, his best is not good enough. He lacks the creativity a serious CONCACAF team needs.
RM : Bailey (4.5) was he there? I would not play him on the right side, I would play him on the bench.
F : Nicholson (9.5) Missed a chance set up by Gray in the first half, however he came back spectacularly in the 2nd half.
F : Reid (7.0) worked more in defense. Kept his cool and scored the penalty.

D : Hector (7.0) was very solid.

COACH : (positives) he made key changes at the right moment. (negatives) He needs to stop cuddling stupidity and (1) realize Bailey is a liability on the Jamaican team – BENCH HIM!(2) stop being infatuated with Latibeaudierre (3) fall in love with Ravel Morrison again.
Congratulations Jamaica!

You have to give the coach credit for a willingness to "think outside the box", but, but Lowe is a high rass risk player...dat facter is always an inch or 2 away from a red card.

No Sah! Bailey has "dovecot" himself without my assistance.

Gray, Pinnock, Blake, Antonio are international top class players.
Nicholson, Morrison are very decent international players.
For the record, Bailey - fairly decent club player.

JoeGrine 2023-11-22 03:19:12

In reply to HumbleCalf

Agreed, Lowe is a risk of getting down to 10 players in a hurry. He was begging for this tonight. Just the same, he manned the position quite well. Hope this spells the end of Latibeaudierre. Lambert until either Hayden or Baker sort out their circumstance.

I would not say the team play at high school level, I would say if you put mismatched product (players in wrong positions/formation not ideal for the team make up), over-hyped players (into "must start" role) and ignore players of quality (Ravel Morrison) then you get what you see on the field. They are not playing good football. In fact, I have seen better quality football from T'Dad that I have seen from Jamaica the past 5 days.

What's it with the coach and Ravel Morrison? Fans and pundits keep calling for Morrison, yet the coach is unmoved!

JoeGrine 2023-11-22 14:57:17

In reply to XDFIX

Good question. Ravel is quite difficult to get along with, but like a lot of rare talents, he can be eccentric. A coach of one of those can either show flexibility and adaptability or just ignore. Coach Grimm has chosen to ignore. I also think the coach is not comfortable with a creative midfielder in his line-up. Look how look it took for him to start quasi-Creative Midfielder Daniel Johnson.

Surprised the Boyz won in Canada..tip hat to coach and I agree with your comments...the 4 Players mentioned are of International
players of top level and Nicholson and Morrison can be a decent as well.
Don't know what coach has against Morrison.
Really sorry I missed the game ..Bailey is best on bench when playing for Jamaica. Never saw him have a good
game for Yard and even when I miss the game he is a screw up.
Namesake Gray is class ..cant claim family ties but it is possible.Got quite a few in GB.

JoeGrine 2023-11-22 16:20:05

In reply to hubert

Your "family" need to show more restraint. Yes, the referee was borderline disgraceful, however, you the player must show restraint. Sadly, Gray will now miss the all-important Nation League semi against USA.

A campaign needs to be started advocating for the inclusion of Ravel Morrison in the squad. Yes, you want players who are playing first team ball, however, a club less Ravel Morrison, with blindfolds on, is better than any player in the Jamaican midfield.

Bailey - I disagree with you there, in four years he has had about 3 good games.

hubert 2023-11-23 01:45:37

In reply to JoeGrine
What are you disagreeing with ? The fact that I have never seen him have a good game for Jamaica.
That's not saying he never had a a good game. I HAVE NEVER seen Him have a good game ///

JoeGrine 2023-11-23 02:31:53

In reply to hubert

My attempt at sarcasm fell short. I was saying Bailey in national uniform has been pathetic, in fours years, he has had three good games including one recently.

hubert 2023-11-23 12:20:00

In reply to JoeGrine

I know I much greater concern is the Coach's treatment of Morrison.
I don't like it as this guy is one of the better contributors o this team especially
when things are rough.
Whatever the problem ,it should be solved as the Boyz need their very best players going
on with sterner competition to come. I wanna see him on the field.
But you and me can't do anything about it smile

In reply to hubert

Ravel is not playing football.

JoeGrine 2023-11-24 08:05:40

In reply to hubert

They use the excuse that his is not with a club, I repeat that Ravel club less is better than any midfielder we have in the current squad. If the coach had an interest in Ravel (if the JFF was not - given their history - so anti "foreigners") then (1) he could have been placed on a monitored program (2) be assigned to a local club (yes player would have to buy in here) or (3) when squads are called, he reports early to get additional sessions in. For example, the upcoming Nations League, he come in a week before the rest of the squad. He is that vital, alas, he is also enigmatic.

nitro 2023-11-24 10:30:22

In reply to JoeGrine

Has Ravel changed from this?

So many persons tried to help Ravel. Halgrimsin said he has called to check upon him, no answer. Sent him a message, no response. That is not good on Ravel's part.

hubert 2023-11-24 10:40:27

In reply to nitro and JoeGrine

Seems to me the JFF dos not care..The player as some suggest is enigmatic but even so, if he is wanted
he would be a part of the team/squad as there must be a way to have him play with a club if that is
a strict requirement.
He could be seconded/loaned to a local club and remain active.
And whatever 'anti foreigner' feeling that exists or suspected should be tossed. The football cannot progress without the
foreign players who are far better attuned to international requirements and standard than the locals. The local game does
not measure up in standards on all levels although improvements are being made.
Jamaica could do far better with a new and better JFF administration as this one seems to lack nous in dealing with
players,men and women .
No effort should be spared in having the best represent the country on the field.
It's time for a change. The Nation should demand it.

JoeGrine 2023-11-24 11:46:54

In reply to hubert

Jamaica could do far better with a new and better JFF administration as this one seems to lack nous in dealing with

Sadly, the team opposing the present JFF admin in the upcoming election has one of its top brass stating he wants a Jamaican team (referencing the men) that local Jamaicans can identify with and be comfortable with.

JoeGrine 2023-11-24 16:46:47

In reply to hubert

Well there are people in Jamaica who sees the national team as the conduit for European club contracts, national team results be damned. You will notice they don't clamor for same on the senior women's team as no big transfer fees are the local women's game/club are paltry. You have local execs who are adamantly opposed to any non-Jamaicans (laughably this would include Jamaican-borns who are now playing overseas) born players in the National senior men's team and they youth men's teams.

Belgium’s Youri Tielemans sums up why its so difficult to play international football compared to club football….

He says he and his teammates are able to work on tactics week in week out during the Premier League season whereas they only have a few days to practice for international fixtures…the good thing for Belgium is that the majority of players have been playing together at age group levels and are accustomed to the same style of play…

I post this to put into context why some Reggae Boyz players sometimes struggle with getting the right chemistry on the pitch….

An interesting thing re Greenwood. He was approached by us in 2021 for the WCQ (JFF late as usual). The loss of Bailey in the last World Cup qualifiers was a big loss no matter what his detractors say. He was only able to play 4 of those games and we lost none of them.

JoeGrine 2023-11-29 16:41:10

In reply to nitro

1) His national team coach ask for patience (he will come good once he plays with the team more often - paraphrasing) so how can his absence be a "big loss" when in essence he is yet to come good?

2) Why does Pinnock, Gray, Antonio, Leigh and Blake not need patience, they (save Blake) weren't even born in Jamaica.

3) Coach Grimm and Bailey surrogates are either STUPID or forgetful. Grimm (I am building team around Bailey) and minimum 6 games later we must be patient. A build your team around guy comes in and is READY). Leon Bailey is a "nice piece to have" player.....NOTHING MORE! A few decent games ahead will not change that, so you and that other poster do not need to run to me when that happens.

4) Bailey is a very good EPL player, was even better in the German top league, at the national level, SO FAR, he has stunk up the place and anyone who says otherwise is selling their football fandom integrity for a price.

He was only able to play 4 of those games and we lost none of them.
- utter garbage being used to justify mediocrity. Latibeaudierre played in games we won would his loss be a "big loss". The things we stoop to in our worship of players and their surrogates.

Can Bailey come good at the national level, we all hope so as Jamaica will benefit. Presently he is just fumigating the pitches!
