He's 34 now, probably past his peak.
He may want to retire from one format to prolong his career in other(s).
Warner and Stoinis will probably move on, possibly Hazlewood as well.

The situation may be complicated by the issue of central contracts. The ECB, for instance, recently issued contracts involving up to three years. There will be a temptation for multi-format players thinking of announcing retirement from one or more formats to temper their spirit of self-sacrifice.

4 years is a long time. But in two years, two years will still be a long time for next gen.
Of course, some players may prefer to concentrate on franchise cricket, but the number of such roving troubadours is necessarily limited. Being a current international carries a significant cachet.

Wishful thinking, Warner's best days are behind him and he's won everything there is to win. Time to step aside.
Marsh and Head can open the batting, Ben McDermott can come in as an opener or keeper/batsman, Aaron Hardie and Cameron Green for all-rounder roles and Spencer Johnson, Jhye Richardson, Sean Abbott, Joel Paris as pacers.

There will be two group stages and an increase in the number of matches from 48 to 54, but still only three knockout matches, from the last four onwards. My kingdom for some quarter-finals.
A wider concern is that success in the World Cup has become the preserve of a handful of teams. The first six editions, between 1975 and 1996, yielded five different winners, but in the seven tournaments since then only three countries - Australia, India and England - have lifted the trophy. In the past three competitions, just five nations - those three recent winners, plus New Zealand and South Africa - have made it to the semi-finals.
