HEADLINE: Bravo left out with 2027 CWC in mind, says Haynes

Chief selector Desmond Haynes says West Indies’ forward planning for the 2027 ICC Cricket World Cup (CWC) resulted in veteran left-hander Darren Bravo being overlooked for next month’s three-match series against England.

The 34-year-old Bravo was the leading scorer in the just concluded Super50 Cup in Trinidad where he piled up 416 runs at an average of 83, while captaining home side Red Force to their 14th domestic 50-over title.

“I think it was a very tough decision for us to make as a panel,” Haynes told a virtual media conference yesterday after the 15-man squad for the series was announced.

Haynes just shows that you can justify any decision if you think that you are speaking to a bunch of idiots. I am not aware of any other team in the world that leaves out its two best players on the guise of preparing for a tournament that is 4 years away that you are not even sure to qualify for.

A lot of players greater than bravo and with much more stellar records have been booted out when their time is up

'It was a tough decision to leave him out' Gibson re Sarwan circa 2008 or suh... NB Sars won his case re allegedly failing a non-existent fitness test
These guys are so disingenuous, self-serving. licky-licky, wanga-gut that it boggles the mind.
Why even say anything? Jus duh unnuh dutty wuk with sealed lips. WI cricket means nothing to these guys, pure lip-service.
The issue here is much larger than whether or not Bravo should be picked and so many do not or cannot see it.

i think it is a travesty when man such as Desmond Haynes and company are allowed to destroy the career of some one, like people effort and life does not matter, the same was done to Permal, I am not a fan of Bravo but this should not be allow
to happen, the excuse is childish and laughable

what age have many WI batsmen retire at? 40 may be a good point to start. Is not like our current top 6 isn't like pretending that shit as patty filling is as good as ground beef.
The issue is way beyond whether Bravo play or not.

you see, there we go! 34 years old, as per your reasoning there is nothing to accomplish in life, why not say to Bravo, do not play in the first class competition your effort don't matter

Haynes can justify anything

Isn't Dowrich 32?

Shane Omari Dowrich (born 30 October 1991) is a Barbadian international cricketer who plays as a wicket-keeper. He has featured for the West Indies, Barbados along with CPL teams St Kitts and Nevis Patriots and Barbados Tridents in his cricketing career.

Hetmeyer could barely make Guyana county team based on his performances yet he get picked for West Indies.

If Big Bro thinks Lil Bro is so talented, why can't he get him an IPL deal? Why should CWI carry another overpriced under performing player? Conflict of interest written all over this one. Either way, even a reversal of the decision will not make us match winners. It still takes a team effort to win a game. The show horses are great for the new franchise sport and not for cricket.

WI cricket and the selectors are jokers. Miscreants and the lowest form of scum.

Darren Bravo, has in the past, not only turned down IPL deals, but also declined selection to the WI T20 World Cup squad, to focus on red ball cricket.

He has demonstrated that he has the tools and the game to be successful in the game’s shortest format, but chose not to go that route to focus on the longer format which is his passion.

It’s a marked departure from that of many of his fellow players in the region. And he still gets cussed and dissed from those on this message board that claim ownership of the traditional form of the game.

I see people on this board saying how they respect Pooran for his “honesty”. Yet vilify Narine, Russell, Pollard and Bravo when they opt not to play for WI.

Hety seems to somehow avoid all of that invective, instead it’s directed toward his wife.

He only escapes the abuse because of where he’s from. Period.

Haynes announcement reminds me of one, Opiss when he booted out Gayle, Shiv etc in the "preparation " for the "next wc"

Shows nothing has changed at CWI...same shit, different day/person

Windies main selection criteria appears to remain bajan w potential considered first.

Perhaps if he develops more as a batsman as he gets older? Which island is he from? Is he one of the up and coming youths ? Sorry to see the denial of the talent but I have never heard of him previously.
If this is true I can see the glory days coming back with a match winner like him. Once again a Bajan has to rescue our team.
