Cricket West Indies (CWI) today announced that Shane Dowrich, the experienced wicket-keeper/batsman has announced his retirement from international cricket with immediate effect and has withdrawn from the West Indies squad for the upcoming CG United One-Day International (ODI) Series against England.
Dowrich made his international debut against Australia in Dominica in 2015. He played 35 Tests where he scored 1,570 runs including three centuries with a top score of 125 not out against Sri Lanka in Trinidad in 2018. Behind the stumps he had 85 catches and five stumpings. He also played one ODI in Ireland in May 2019.
CWI thanked Dowrich for his contribution to West Indies cricket and wished him the best in his future endeavors. Miles Bascombe, CWI’s Director of Cricket said: “We want to thank Shane for contribution when he played for West Indies. He is a disciplined, hard-working cricketer who always gave his utmost in front and behind the stumps. He had a memorable series in 2019 when he made an outstanding Test century on home soil in Barbados to help us beat England and win the Wisden Trophy. We respect his decision to retire and appreciate it is not an easy one to make. We wish him all the best as he steps away from the international stage.”

Its simple. He hasnt wanted to play international cricket for some time. He is easily the best Wkpt batsman in the region and can play as a batsman alone which is how he made his test debut. However, I suspect he got to the training camp, immediately felt depressed, and realized that he didnt want to be there. Even more simply put: He wasnt feeling it.

While Desmond Haynes and others are doing their best to get rid of Daren Bravo, their own Bajan embarrassing them and putting them to shame. Take this Desmond Haynes!

My source told me that in one net a few days ago in preparation for this ODI series Alzarri Joseph tormented Dowrich with short balls to the degree that one got through, hit him on the helmet and he had to be carried from the net session by the physio dazed. It was then that he realized that it was the end of his career.

Dessie Haynes and the silly-lectors got it wrong in the first place! Hamilton should have been the pick but Dessie went with his home boy.

Why allyu love to pull de insularity card and expose urselves in de process?
Neither of dese players is anything to write home about but Hamilton has the better List A average of the two and if ah not mistaken is an ODI series dats being played.

One almost got two centuries in that said tournament and its not insularity to point out facts but to keep harping on about where a player comes from is and i had no issue if anyone of them got selected because they both performed in the super 50
