Lead West Indies selector Desmond Haynes has admitted the Test squad for the Tour of Australia was short on experience, but he said it was an opportunity for the slew of untried and untested players to make a name for themselves against one of the sport’s toughest opponents.
The selection panel led by Haynes named seven uncapped players in the 15-member squad to be led again by opener Kraigg Brathwaite, with pace spearhead Alzarri Joseph elevated to be his deputy.
The uncapped seven are batsman Zachary McCaskie, wicketkeeper-batsman Tevin Imlach, all-rounders Justin Greaves, Kavem Hodge, and Kevin Sinclair, as well as fast bowlers Akeem Jordan and Shamar Joseph.

HA! We've been saying this since 2015 and the teams that went to Australia in 2015 and 2022 were the LEAST competitive in the last 70 years of our cricket. 2000 and 2006 were uncompetituve but Australia were still worried enough to resort to tiefing lara out on both tours. they didn't need to do that in 2015 and 2022

Haynes said the selection panel recognised that of the batsmen in the squad, only Brathwaite and Da Silva had played Tests in Australia previously, but the One-day and Twenty20 International series against England prevented them from exposing other players that they may have considered on the ‘A’ Team Tour of South Africa in preparation.
“We did take into consideration that a lot of players selected (for Australia) are young and inexperienced, but we are hoping that they will perform well enough to set their careers on a high.”

The WI need younger Selectors, they cannot do worse than the present ones. They might know that communication is very important with the new generation.

The Bravo non-selection.
No contact with Blackwood.
Hope, King, Mayers and Holder turning down test selection for the tour of Australia.
Haynes and Co have a lot of explaining to do.

Apart from test experience this is by far the worst test team picked by selectors since I know myself. During the days of Kerry Parker and apartheid I know we picked inexperienced teams but they were very talented with the likes of a young Malcom Marshall and others. This team lacks talent, as combined I doubt they have fifty first class centuries and the bowlers have 200 fc wickets combined. With Daren Bravo’s constant pressing by selectors, I feel we should have a new set of selectors to lead us in 2024, as Haynes and his team are only good enough to destroy our team
