The biggest news yesterday was 5he Sabalenka withdrawal - injured.
Today, last year female champion got knocked out, the women's league is very unstable, anyone in the top twenty can win.
In reply to Chrissy
My daughter is in London for the week to attend Wimbledon, she went to the matches yesterday but she just started a Doctoral program, so she has to skip the matches today to catch-up on some assignments and then be free for the rest of her stay.

Yes, Vondrousova knocked out in the first round!
Winners yesterday included Rybakina, Swiatek, Djokovic and Shelton.
In reply to Chrissy
That withdrawal is massive!
Gauff could capitalise, winning in straight sets. However, Osaka and Stephens went out. Also losing yesterday were Felix AA, Eubanks and Ruud.
Other winners yesterday included Alcaraz, Tiafoe and Paolini.
Having read the story of Tiafoe's mum and dad who feld war from Siera Leone makes me want to see Frances Tiafoe win Wimbledon. What a story!

Amazing story...Alcaraz vs Tiafoe today.
Yesterday, in a battle of old-timers, Monfils beat Wawrinka in straight sets.
Wozniacki beat Fernandez in three sets, while Tsitsipas went out.
Also marching on were Shelton, Djokovic, Swiatek, Keys, Jabeur and Rybakina.
Alcaraz outlasted Tiafoe to win in five sets.
Dmitrov beat Monfils in straight sets.
Yesterday, there were also wins for Gauff, Paolini and Keys on a rain-ravaged day.
Expect more English rain today....

I root for him but he doesn’t have enough game. Played really well yesterday.
Coco v Navarro now
In reply to Chrissy
Coco’s struggling big time
Navarro takes the 1st set
Coco’s mentality looks suspect….
That’s the difference with prime Serena…she was tough like nails…
Looks like the Brad Gilbert partnership is coming to an end….
In reply to Chrissy
Gauff loses…poor poor performance
In reply to FanAttick
Navarro beat both Naomi and Coco.
She was a top class college player with a good game.
But yes Coco had a bad night.

The Sinner man crushed Shelton in straight sets.
Dmitrov retired injured against Medvedev.

Yuh watching Pericardial. He takes Set1 on his 21st birthday. Let’s see how this goes.
In reply to mikesiva
Perricard with that serve looks like he is going to be a future star on grass courts
In reply to dayne
Needs more than a great serve. Not a happy birthday.
Long long time two Americans mek di Wimbledon QFs
In reply to Chrissy
I saw the first set, and then had to go to work....
A lot of potential, considering that he's a qualifier. Mpetshi Perricard should get an automatic place in the US Open, if he keeps this up.
Other winners yesterday included Rybakina, Ostapenko and Svitolina, but Fritz sent Zverev packing.
In reply to FanAttick
Coco looked so off that I concluded she was gonna lose big time and went and
watched a movie. I think she has some issues as she did not look
her usual self.
The Octopus got the Sinner in 5 ..... great match
Back to back semis for Jasmine Paolini
Paolini was surgical in her match today, good for her, first Italian woman ever in the semi-finals at Wimbledon.
In reply to Kay
Fi real
Carlos with ease as well
Paolini is one lucky woman. Maddy Keys had her on the ropes @ 5-2 in the third set in the fourth round before Keys unfortunately got injured and couldn't finish the match ....
In reply to dayne
Vekic outlasted Sun to reach the semis for the first time too...she'll play Paolini for a place in the final.
In reply to Kay

Another great comeback by Paolini! Always happy, always laughing, never seems stressed. What an attitude!
Kreijcichova also came from a set down to beat Rybakina.
So, we'll have a new women's Wimbledon champion on Saturday.
I think the Czech won the French a year or two ago....
Carlito in four.
In reply to mikesiva
Was it two or three years ago.
In reply to Chrissy
Something like that....
Djokovic beat Musetti in straight sets.
The men's final will be Djokovic vs Alcaraz on Sunday.
Will it be double joy for Spain on Sunday?
In reply to Chrissy
The Czech wins 2-1
Was cheering for the Italian….
In reply to mikesiva
Make that the eighth different women's champion in as many years ......
In reply to Kay
The bookies very likely do well with the gamblers on the women's game, there has been no dominant player in the women's game since Serena Williams move on.
In reply to FanAttick
Definitely was rooting for the Czech. Her double partner walked away from her a year ago. She held her head high and moved on. She always carried herself with a fine sense of dignity on the circuit and we saw it when she won the French Open a few years ago.
In reply to FanAttick
Me too - back to back finals
1st set Carlito 6-2
Carlos breaks and will serve for the trophy
Going down ....
Down .....
And pulls a Houdini ....
Down and out now ....
In reply to Kay
