Fi refusing to play di final
In reply to Chrissy
A local fan called Mason & Guest show, wanted lawyers to get involved so that players could be paid for the final match
No one has why from WIPA.
Why was the outfield available at 6:15 pm with no sunlight and not a couple hours earlier?
At what time were the other games cancelled?
In reply to Chrissy
That match was a farce….the officials were trying to force the issue even though it was clear that the conditions were not fit for play…joke thing. They should have scheduled a reserve day…

And you were there??

Crickets……..,
They might go it alone
Cricket fans on this msb are the best yes.
They want to crucify AlJo for his bad behavior on the field and leaving the field without telling anyone
Yet they want players of both teams in the Super 50 final to be paid in full even though those players essentially went on strike in defiance of the match officials who informed both teams the game was ready to be played.
Find it strange that both teams would not take the field!

To be honest bro, there's way too much long talk on WI cricket and shenanigans. Half of the folks here are either clueless or from The Land That Time Forgot.
May even be the reason things are fubar. Plenty mouth experts.
Who cares about that not-played final? It seems those teams didn't.
In reply to Chrissy
Have no dog in fight where WIC is concerned. However sanctions will be deserved.
Umpires and referee are in charge as responsible parties and should be obeyed.
The Board as some pointed out should have a reserved day and if that is also
rained out, then both should share the spoils and get paid.
Now I would not pay them as they aborted the game and apparently did
not tell the Ref or umpires ?????
It is not their right to act arbitrarily.
Who they, old Bad John and Newby Bad john ?
Maybe getting to the final was a surprise to both
While I suspect that may well be a tongue in cheek remark, there is some reality there that peeps may not want to acknowledge.
The Super 50 is supposed to be one of the premier events in the regional cricketing calendar.
There is more than a fair amount of fan apathy regarding this tournament.
So what is CWI doing to encourage more fan interaction and interest in their tournaments?
Because of that apathy……players and administration alike appear to do what they want.
In this particular case, I have not seen a single statement anywhere (web, print, press conference as some insist) from the team representatives regarding why they refused to take the field.
I’ve probably missed it.
But if there isn’t any such statement, fans are left to surmise that it must be because the players felt it was too dangerous for them to continue…..a health and safety issue as it were.
Not a peep from WIPA. Not the Dave Cameron version of WIPA anyway. And NOBODY finds that surprising.
So as the alleged player representative, should they not have issued some sort of statement?
THIS IS THEIR WEBSITE
Nothing I can see that even refers to Super 50.

Correct is right
No conkies for Yardies or Bajans!
A friend ask if both teams declared?
In reply to FanAttick
Agree but they all signed on to these rules and playing conditions
In reply to imusic
Yeah you see it to.
What's good for one not good for another.
The players forfeited the match. Well in fact the management of both teams needs to be sanctioned first. Because the manager/coach essentially responsible for the players.

That simple

Agree

Strike???! STRIKE???!
It have man here that once they hear STRIKE will call for life bans!!!! I just hope they consistent and not hypocrites.
Directors of member states of CWI should intervene in the Super 50 controversy and use their powers to overturn the decision of no champion or joint champions.
It is a gross insult to players in the competition for the title vacancy to stand. The threat of a crippling boycott by the players themselves is a swift remedy to the fuckery.

If this were an international match - let’s say WI vs Oz, India or England - would the umpires and match referee insist that conditions were fit to play? Just asking….
JCA president says both captains erred.
And then some
Somewhere in the interpretation of the Laws of Cricket as they relate to the fitness of grounds for play, is the terminology 'in agreement with the captains', which suggests that if the captains were in disagreement, there would be a stalemate
Both Reifer and Campbell could possibly be suspended for up to eight months after they failed to be present for the coin toss in last Saturday’s final, which had been delayed due to persistent showers.
While it has been reported that the Barbados Cricket Association (BCA) is contemplating taking legal action against CWI, the Jamaica Cricket Association (JCA) is seemingly in support of the umpires who made the decision to resume play.
Reifer and Campbell facing possible bans over Super50 failure
Isn’t the real issue the match referee Mr. King?
In reply to openning
I really do hope the BCA takes them to court for this. Players should not be punished for CWIs poor contingency plans or lack of.
In reply to FanAttick
It's not complicated or rocket science but leave it to the CWI to make it so. It's so damn stupid.
