Root vs Lara
In reply to imusic
I’ll take Brian every day of di week
Joe Root is a very fine player, a true great and certainly one of the best cricketers England has ever produced. However, Brian Lara is one of the best that the world has ever produced.

Yes! and twice on Sundays!

Lara was just better that does not diminish root as a batsman .the better comparison would be between root and kohli two contempoary players

In this era of social media, tens times per day, this website- whose existence is to make money, "publish" all of these statistical comparisons and other personal information about cricketers and their family, with attractive and fancy fonts, colors and style. But it doesn't mean there is merit to what they publish.
Groups like these will prosper for as long as people like you keep clicking on their link.

As to who is the 3rd best of the Test batsmen today and it is Root by a mile.
If Lara had batted as often as Joe, he would compile 14,000+ runs!
Difficult to compare. I agree that Root is probably England's greatest batsman, beating Barrington and Boycott but again without the flair of a Lara. But in this era, Root is certainly a member of the Fab Four as Lara was in his era but with many more opportunities to play test cricket than Lara had.
