2026 Men’s Super50 Cup; 2027 Women’s Super50 and T20 Blaze are all no-gos

Just prior to the start of the West Indies’ white-ball series against India, Cricket West Indies announced a 25% pay cut for centrally contracted players. The change is understood to only affect the men’s team and will begin taking effect next month.

The regional body has been vocal about its financial struggles, which have led to the downsizing of several domestic competitions across genders and age groups over the last two seasons.

CWI was granted a US$12.82 million emergency loan from the International Cricket Council (ICC) in July. And in an official video release on Thursday, CEO Chris Dehring confirmed another slew of cost-cutting measures triggered by the “terms of repayment and conditions that will require CWI to attain critical metrics in order to access these (ICC) funds.”

History repeats itself...

8 years in office..Skerritt-Shallow..Directors....West Indies cricket in worst position... Inspite of hosting T-20 world cup....because we missed 4 ICC tournaments and along with it participants fee...also expensive travel by CWI administrators...

Needs to be resignations at board and executive level.

Coming into a CWC year and there is no domestic 50 over tournament.

Is there pay deductions for board and executive members?

CWI is a big failure and embarrassment and I am even ashamed to be a West Indian by birth.

how can we be going into an ODI competition in a few months and CWI finds the best thing to do is to cancel the 50 championship that gives players a fair chance to impress? Backward thinking that.

25% pay cut for players but no pay cut for administrators? No one has resigned or fired and Sammy and others still have a job to further destroy our future? Crap that

Well, concerning News, however, Dehring did not say what the Board is going to do to try to bring in more money to the region. they cannot keep on cancelling tournaments and cutting pays, the quality of the players will decline

makes more sense to keep the Super50 in a World Cup qualifying year and suspend the FC competition, probably just inviting the best players from 2026 to form 3 teams and play against one another.
