WICB Position on Samuels Allegations
The West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) has issued a statement promising a full investigation into the allegations of match-fixing that have been made against batsman Marlon Samuels but made it clear it will not act on "rumour or gossip."
The following the the WICB's official response to the allegations against the Jamaican right-hander:
Our position at this stage has been:
1. We have not been officially contacted and have no information from the BCCI or the ICC.
2. When we do we will have a complete investigation of the allegations.
3. We have a zero tolerance policy to gambling, drugs and racism and adhere rigorously to the ICC codes on these matters.
4. This position is incorporated into our Match Tour Contracts which the players sign.
5. However, we are not going to act on rumour or gossip and will not be panicked.
6. Particularly since we are talking about career and future of a young cricketer of talent and promise
7. Rest assured, that the matter will be investigated and appropriate action taken consistent with the ICC regulations and our own reputation for probity in all matters.
