I am happy that WI beat the Bangladeshi's effectively but I still think we are 2 Batsmen short in the lineup.
I am for playing allrounders but if allrounders are playing they should be playing in the place of the bowlers lengthening the Batting line up. But we are doing neither. I am worried about having a line up with 3 Batsmen, 1 WK, 3 Allrounders (Bits and Pieces) and 4 Bowlers. This is absurdity.
Indian Series and the SA series are the only 2 series where we can fine tune the line up. Ideal Line up should have 3 Bowlers and 2 Allrounders. Anything more is something I am not comfortable with.
Gayle
Simmo
Batsman 1
Lil.Bravo
Ramdin
Batsman 2
Pollard
Dwayne Bravo
Holder
Narine
Rampaul/ Roach
If we are playing another Bowling allrounder (Sammy, Carlos Brathwaite, Russel anyone) should be playing in the place of Pollard or a Bowler.
Ramdin at 4 with Bravo and Pollard following him makes the line up very vulnerable.
Note: The CPL showed the weakness of many Trini Batsmen with Short ball. While the Bangladeshis have not tried it I dont think it would have got unnoticed. Bravo Brothers, Ramdin and Pollard could be in for some fast ones.

WI Team Balance
In reply to Pacy
What that team is for? T20i?
If it is for T20i Roach should not be in there.
In reply to Pacy
Who are batsman 1 and batsman 2
In reply to TheTrail
I am looking at the WC. It is in Australia and in wickets very alien to the Caribbean. We would need options there
In reply to gvenkat
Sarwan & Shiv
In reply to PacyIf its for the World Cup you would be well advised to have Dwayne Smith in your line up. There are very few batsmen left in the region that can handle pace now. Simmons and Smith should cope. I have doubts about the others.
In reply to Pacy
Sarwan is done. I can't believe you still think he has something left. Shiv I can agree.
In reply to Logic
True but I see Dwayne Smith in the same type as Bravo, Pollard and Sammy. I am worried at the lack of batsman in the region. May be Blackwood? JOhnson, Carter. We need to bring some solidity to the middle order.
In reply to gvenkat
Who knows... Sarwan could be better than some of the options WI has at the moment.
For me WI needs to use the Indian and SA leg to identify those 2 Batsmen who can hold that spot. Else we might have the same Allrounder debacle we had in last WC.
In reply to Logic
I fully agree aith you.. No one better to take on Mitchell Johnsons's short fast bowling than dwayne smith as he does not get the ball to swing i consistently. Smith mayt have his issues with starc and faukner because they can bring the ball in sharply, but he will sure handle johnson better than mostr of these guys. He will be quick to pull anything short of a lenght over backward square. Sadly, our sil selectors don't think this deep and they do not realise that gayle and company on fast bouncy tracks will be useless
In reply to Pacy
Sarwan has his issues with fast bowling on bouncy tracks. He has never done well on boucing wickets...my favorite player and I would love to see him back, but he needs to play on pitches that suit him, slow and low.
In reply to jballer84
Sarwan is just the option and he did do well in SA WC. We can use anyone that is capable. But we need batting options.

Okay, our teams are quite similar. The ones taking the field right now are very different to what we think. All this current team needs is Darren bravo / Ramdin to fail with the bat, and we're in deep trouble. Got to play the extra batsman.
In reply to brians_da_best
I somehow see that there is serious reluctance to blood and groom batsmen over the past 2-3 years.
When Ramdin, Bravo and Pollard come in at 4,5,6 it means that they are playing atleast 2 places ahead of what they should ideally bat.
In reply to Pacy
Hence the need to recall Sars. Now that the coach is out, Sars, with his talent and experience should slot straight back in.
And blackwood could be the youngster we can blood. Aggressive, got a good technique and that bit of spark about him
In reply to brians_da_best
Right. We should also have Chanders on the standby since his experience might come handy in Australia.
In reply to Pacy
Chanders I'm not too sure. Had it been two yrs back, it would have been a no brainer to pick him for odis. But now at 40, I would rather save him solely for tests, and maybe get another 2 yrs out of him
In reply to brians_da_best
I think he is at the end of his career Brian... Even if it is just tests, I dont think he needs to play till 42. For me he has another 6 Months to a years cricket left. It can be tests or ODIs but Wi cant depend on him longer.
In reply to jballer84
Could it be that you are the one that dont think too deep?
...chk the batsman still standing at the END OF THE WI 2nd innings...
Btw,this was NOT a losing or Dead rubber innings!!!!
In reply to Pacy
Sarwan in Australia is a walking wicket. Yo better off batting Sammy there than him.
Horses for courses. I'd go with Sanmy over Pollard when playing teams with genuine quick bowlers on quick bouncy wickets. Sammy handles the QUICK short ball better than Pollard, Holder and is just as good driving down the ground. Sammy needs to take the rest of the year to get back to being a CONFIDENT effective BOWLER. He has shown what he can do against Steyn and Lee...I'd take him to SA to see if he still has the ability. Against India...well he should be familiar with the conditions...so.
