Shiv 's 43 career strike rate is not slow lets examine his contemporaries past and present in similar roles albeit in stronger batting teams with more support, hint not batting mostly with the tail. Context is key.

The problem with you like many others is that you are one eyed.
Shiv being great is at no conflict with him being selfish. Because he is. He wasn't always so, but he definitely is.
I always bring up Boycott because similarly people who described him as a selfish batsman rarely disputed his greatness.
This leaves people to argue the quantum of his greatness. Some value his longevity, others say he qualitatively suffers because he took minimal risks, a key component in deciding the order of great bats.
But lets not argue over the fact that he is selfish. In some great sportsmen it is a driver towards their will to win. In Shiv it is a singular march to personal milestones. And it is obvious.
Can't blame him, but don't play like what everyone is noting from Bish to casual onlooker, is some myth.

Who is bragging? These figures are to put things in context. This is a 5 day Test Match where our batsmen should be occupying the crease and getting in match practice for the stiffer tests ahead in India and South Africa. Bangladesh is not important.
Most of those here who always criticize Shiv are insular, racist or know little or anything about cricket.
Shiv is Shiv. That is the way he bats. From small his father taught him to prize his wicket at all costs. Additionally, this is a style that he has perfected in order to save not only his Team, but the West Indian people from humiliation and embarassment, time after time after time.
