Yeah good cricketer too when Case Cup was really tought cricket. There is a story that one day Police was playing DCC and Johashen sent back both openers for first ball ducks both bowled. In the second innings neither of them wanted to take strike and both stood at the non strikers end arguing. Anyway, after the argument was settled, he bowled BOTH of them for a first ball pair again.... lol lol lol

Police had a good opening attack in those days. It was Johashen from one end and Keith Cameron from the other.

I faced Johashen once. Got a single off the second ball. Other than getting Andrew Lyght out, stumped after misreading a doosra, facing Johashen might be the highlight of my stellar career.

RIP Johashen. He was a lifer.

You are not serious. You actually got Andrew "Monster" Lyght out ? Was that some miracle ball ? Before I left Guyana Lyght, William White and Timur Mohammed were guys that were impossible to get out.

Was this bottom house or bumper ball cricket ?

Now let us examine the second statement in context of the first.

Andrew Lyght died in 2001 so you were bowling doosras before anyone else.

You are either the first person to bowl the doosra or your outstanding abilities as espoused in the first statement is obviously explained!!!!!!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Back then we had another name for it and we didn't have to kink the elbow. At least I didn't. Pitched middle and leg, bit and turned the other way, Monster came down the track in attack mode, misread the flight and decided to defend. Big mistake. Bails were off in a flash and he tucked the bat, gave me a nod of respect, and walked.

True story.

Whilst we on ole time stories.

QC vs Tutorial and the Dukester bowls a nicely flighted googly which Mark Harper fails to read as he attempts an off drive and gets an inside edge and the ball gently loops back to the bowler for an easy caught and bowled.
I COODA BEEN A CONTENDER!!!!!!!!!!

Bhai, Dukes dem can mek any claim about cricket cause there are no way they can be proven wrong or right....no cameras or videos during those time!!! lol lol lol

I had an ole timer telling me dat he was such a good batsman dat he sometimes turn his bat upside down to bat so the opposing team can have a better chance to out him!!! lol lol

No story could top The Real McCoy beating ball at GSC with Crofty bowling. Or the one time he dribbled through the entire field, including the goalie, and tapped in the game winner.

I know DCC use to left grass to grow on their pitches if they are playing against weaker teams....the grass root are sometimes halk an inch above the ground...maybe yuh delivery hit one of those....

Larr Pullo 2014-10-22 09:33:48

I first balled Christian LBW a few years ago at DCC. DCC was preparing for the season so Skeebow (RIP) came by and asked me to come and play. I got 3/28 off about 8 overs that day....

Getting Christian out is nothing to boast about however, but he was a FC player who actually played one game for the WI..... lol lol lol

Admin 2014-10-22 09:45:55

In all seriousness, I remember Johashen as one of those old-timers who were difficult to approach. He had a mean look and I always got the impression he was moody. I won't say I "knew him" but the few times I did get to talk to him as a young journalist in Guyana, he was always helpful and kind.

A real lifer who was always around the cricket.

Bannas, I wracking my brains and wondering how come I don't remember you. I followed the real WestDem around Guyana that season when Seeram got the 1000 case cup runs. I was the scorer at Everest in those days. I don't remember you at all.

When he scored that 1000 case cup runs, I was not playing for them as yet...Played @ Malteenoes from 82 and 83 then Rupert took me over to GCC where I played Northcote and Wight Cup fuh two years then I went to West Dem and played there till I migrated in '91....Were you at Everest when Ramcharitar, Ganourie, Derek Kalli and Zulfi was still there? Played Case Cup against them in '82 and Ganourie was a victim of my leggie... cool

Yes. Butts and David Harper too. I was a teenage legbreak/googly bowler who followed the team because Roy Ramdass (opening bat) was my neighbor in D'urban St, Lodge.
