Travis is very good indeed. He attempts to give real analysis, unlike the other clowns. I heard him today talking about balance and on-driving and the importance of batsmen to adjust individually. Nothing earth-shattering but at least he was attempting to think through things.

Despite coming out of QC, I have to say that Saints has been the most prolific producer of Guyana and Guyana WI cricketers in the country. QC rivals Saints only in the production of Under-19 cricketers.

Here is my alphabetical list of 10 Saints players who represented WI. Of these, 8 played Test cricket.

Stephen Camacho (WI Test batsman),
Cyril Christiani (WI Test wkpr),
Robert Christiani (WI Test batsman),
Travis Dowlin (WI Test batsman),
Clifford McWatt (WI Test wkpr),
Ivor Mendonca (WI Test wkpr),
Timur Mohamed (WI first class batsman),
Keith Semple (WI ODI batsman),
Charlie Stayers (WI Test fast bowler) and
Leslie Wight (WI Test batsman).

I won't be surprised if the list above is incomplete.

See the Saints page here,
Queen's College page here,
Central High School page here,
Richard Ishmael Sec page here, and
Corentyne High here.

Any help (even titbits of info) would be highly appreciated in this project. I believe it is a step in helping to bring cricket back to schools, which feed the clubs - the foundation of national and regional cricket.

The current list of school pages may be found here.

smile I'm glad you brought that up.

Dowlin provided good service to Guyana and the West Indies, despite numerous challenges.

One remembers when Gaja Singh accused him of on-field racism while he (Dowlin) captained the Demerara team in an inter-county match. Dowlin kept his cool and took the right action to clear his name. (This left the Demerara Cricket Board in a huge financial hole because of lawyers' fees, which in turn contributed significantly to the current GCB crisis.)

His batting helped Guyana win the Standford Twenty20 competition, and he performed much better than many expected when called up for WI duty, in the West indies and Australia. (He certainly performed better than Sars in Aus.)

Given all of that, Iwould not be at all surprised if Dowlin turns out to be an excellent cricket analyst, and commentator.
