In reply to Andy99 Man what kind of analysis is that. Smith is a better bowler than a lot of the part-timers who bowl for WI. He is definitely a better wicket-taking bowler than Sammy. Smith, a guy that hits the seam and swings the new ball was asked to come on to bowl after the 32nd over when the 2 opening batsmen were well set. His first over went for 10, six of which were the consequence of 2 misfields. His second over went for 9. Then he was brought back when DeVilliers was on full rampage and went pretty much at the same rate as Holder and Taylor in their last spells. I believe he replaced Russell who himself had just gone for 22 even though though Russell recovered well in his last few overs.
Give Smith some credit for putting up his hand when the going was tough for all and ask yourself the question WI might have been better served if he was able to bowl some of those early overs given to Sammy when the ball still had some shape and the batsmen were more watchful.
