From Tony Cozier
Encouraged by results after what the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) termed "intense remedial work" undertaken by Narine himself in Trinidad, the selectors deemed him ready to return for the World Cup and named him in the squad.
With the WICB's assertion that preliminary tests showed Narine's tweaked action to be under the allowable 15 degrees elbow flexion for all his deliveries, he was back in the regional 50-overs tournament, the Nagico Super50, a few days later, spinning the Trinidad and Tobago Red Force to victory over the Guyana Jaguars in the final with the implausible return of 8-3-9-6.
The umpires, as well several former players, endorsed the change.
So, Cozier is saying that Narine believed his action was legal, and that belief was based on quantitative testing as well as qualitative opinion by experts (umps & former players).
So, why then is Narine getting cold feet re the WC? Does he not wish to be around a dysfunctional group? Does he have an issue with team management or another player? Or did he decide that the WC was just not worth the risk that his new action would crack and he would revert to his previous illegal action.
The last option is the one that closest conforms to his public statements. He may have been influenced by the Chairman of selectors telling senior players that this WC was being used to prepare for the next one in 4 years time. Why bother with a "warm-up" tournament? Surely, the aim should be to peak in 4 years time?

Narine: Curiouser & Curiouser
In reply to Kurt
Go sit down!!! Trini players not worht the amount of bandwidth being expended on them. Let Narine get his Calcutta citizenship and get to stepping!!!
In reply to Kurt
Larr's post can be summarized thusly...."let someone else be eaten.....uhmmm...ah mean.....eat a food"
In reply to Larr Pullo
So you heard and know what's really up!!!!!
Or you making a wild accusation?
In reply to Kurt
Or a straight up boycott by Tinnies who could afford it,instigated by Ramnarine? Btw Narine is still pelting and from TV replays he is not even within 30 degrees elbow flexion

Then again....we know the WICB are liars

Ah mean....if Sudden, the elbow flexion specialist say so....it MUST be so

In reply to sudden
Is anyone associated with WI cricket taking this WC seriously?
How do you square your personal observations with Cozier's report on the results of the testing that was done on Narine's action?
In reply to imusic
I am using your style of posting. Opinions masquerading as facts. Quite effective ent?
In reply to Kurt
Unnuh does cuss cozier often. Why is he believable now!
In reply to sudden
If you going to copy.....at least do it right. Not even that you can do properly.
Jeez man.....at least have some semblance of self respect
In reply to sudden
So you think he's making this all up?
I've always liked Tony, he's a link back to the "good old days" of WI cricket. For many years, WI cricket without Cozier would not have been WI cricket.
In reply to imusic
Itito, you talking about self respect? Lord cum fuh yuh worl! You? Hahaha
In reply to sudden
If de Lord had to come for you he would have to make 3 trips
In reply to imusic
Only 3?
In reply to Larr Pullo
So who in the West Indies worth Bandwidth,oh ah fuget,Burnham, although him dead lang time.Narine already get he Indian Citizenship, and you or nobody like yuh cyah do fcuk.
Narine is a team player. He is foremeost a Trini.
I think he is right to blank Clive and the Board.
Clive showed his hand by dissing the players and the PM's.
You just can't diss the established players for a rookie skipper who is not sure of making d team.
Sammy should have been retained as captain. Then you had the standing test team captain and former captain Gayle.
So to bring in a kid to lead men is assin*ne.
Clive showed that he can be vindictive by blanking the TT boys so Narine just returned the favor and sunk any chance the WI had of reaching the quarters.
Love it.
All I need now is for Simmons Ireland to cut we a *s .

What is up with this anti-Trinidadian sentiment.
Players don't get their actions passed by assertions.
There is a test at Cardiff or another testing center.
Thats all.
In reply to Commie
Is there a testing center in the WI?
Or is this yet another area where the WICB have failed our cricketers?
In reply to Kurt
Unsure if other test playing countries outside of Oz and England have their own testing centers.
If it's not a standard for most test playing countries can't see how that would be an area where WICBC has failed our cricketers.
There are more than enough areas that need improvement without blaming them for stuff that's not their fault.
In reply to imusic
My point was that, if there's no testing center in the WI, one can hardly blame Narine if his testing is qualitatively done by local umps & former cricketers. Having to take a round trip yo England every time you want feedback on your action is seriously inefficient.
In reply to Kurt
Maybe so, but it's the same for cricketers from NZ, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, Bamgladesh, and up until very recently, South Africa.
WICBC hardly to blame in this area IMO.
In reply to Kurt
UWI would have to step up to de plate. Where is Beckles wen you need him
In reply to imusic
Seriously, what does that mean?

It sounds very cool, but I need to know what I'm saying when I use it to (h)insult someone. Like:
If the Lord had to come to getcha, he'd need to make three trips.....you mothaluvva....

In reply to denoke
See the WICB anti People sentiment.
De sooner we get rid of de Trinis and get back in de Guyanese de better for we cricket.
