I understand that Simmons, a legend in his own island of Trinidad, is one of seven people being considered to be the next coach of the West Indies, who crashed to defeat against Ireland on Monday in their World Cup opener.
The WICB (West Indies Cricket Board) hope to make an appointment in time for the coach to take charge of the home Test series against England in April.

It will be good to see this great good looking West Indies as the head coach, because the last coach was an average ugly Barbadian.
He'd have to be a bonafide idiot to accept the post.

I wish Simmons dosent move to WI. He has had success and coming to WI is a big decision.
But anyway, WI will hire some unknown Country coach like how they hired King who is invisible before and after the WI duty.
I was stating then WI should have called for a person like Whatmore who had successfully used the limited talent of SL into world Champion team. WI in mid 2000s still had the talented Lara and Chands with a few promising lads.

That is very good for Simmons , he is likely to use this as a great bargaining Chip , to
get more money ; Clout and an extension of his Contract from Ireland . This
would be very good business acumen .
Ireland has Sponsors , Facilities to improve their Cricketers ; many of their Players play County Cricket , the Ireland Cricket Board has harmonious relationships with their Players . It is Competent ; not
prone to do Stupid things .
So why would Phil Simmons leave that to get
involved with the Worst International Cricket Board in the World ; aka the WICB which is known throughout the Cricket World for its Incompetence ; Ineptness ; lack of
Vision & Business Acumen and bluntly refuses to foster harmonious relations with the Players . Those who believe this must be smoking some heavy stuff .
