WI and WC 2015

In an informal, unscientific poll I did with plenty hardcore WI fans, I am not surprised to hear that 99% of them feel the same as I do. We do not know when WI plays its first match or any match for that matter, nor care to watch any of their games.

A once proud institution is no longer. A shame indeed. A generation of fans have given up and moved on.

The question is now, not how the team will perform in this tournament or any in the near future, but whether cricket will ever rise again in the Caribbean.

As they say, the one constant in life is Change. It's like walking through that old sugar cane estate and saying 'they used to make sugar here long ago'. I am afraid that is what will be said about WI cricket in the very near future. 'They used to play championship cricket here and produced some of the best players in the world'.

If you think that is bad, Guyana is playing the Leewards in Antigua since Friday and I live in Antigua and I just found out by accident. Absolutely NO promotion by the WICBandits and we expect people to be interested in cricket.

and I wonder if the folks playing will 'protest by performance' that Bravo & Pollard were omitted? Not that it would make any difference in the end result though cool

Simmons has done a great job with Ireland at least the past 5 years...I wonder if he was ever in contention for a hire by WICB
