West Indies vs New Zealand.
We should have a good match up.
I would like to see Gayle replace Smith, and Benn/Miller replace Roach.

WI vs NZ Quarter Finals
In reply to don1
we would be the underdogs but we can take them
In reply to don1
WI has 3 Major challenges
1. Boult
2. Vettori
3. McCullum
WI Needs to focus on how to manage all these 3
In reply to dax
If they could take these games seriously and play with a sense of purpose.
Samuels seems to be a liability at the top of the order, since he does not seem to understand the nuances of the game such as taking singles and rotating the strike
In reply to embsallie
Yes, they should drop him down to 5 or 6 or maybe open the batting.
In reply to Pacy
I think we should improve our bowling to stand a chance against the Kiwis. They aren't a very high scoring team, restrict them to less than 270 we should win it!
Elevate Simmons to #3 in batting.
In reply to Pacy
they struggled against guruge.. Boult will kill them
We can thrash new zealand. Small grounds will suit our big hitters.
When is the match?

need to book mark this thread

You really think they'll beat us?
In reply to brians_da_best
yes.

Anything can happen in a LO game.
In reply to gvenkat
Nuff new zealand players trembling in their boots at the prospect of facing us.
They would have settled for anyone else in our group - India, south africa, paakistan, ireland. But they end up getting the toughest challenge of all, us.
Kaarma is a bitch. When they beat us in the caribbean last year, they should have known what was coming their way

Bhai, That's like saying God is great.
We all know that. On current form NZL bowlers are the best in the cup on par with India. Their batting is well suited for these small grounds. Given WI weakness against Left farmers, There is no reason to think WI will beat NZL.
Especially WI dont seem to be switched on if stuff don't go well and that was clear in all the matches so far.
In reply to brians_da_best
I like your confidence and agree that despite winning soany games NZ have not exactly set the tourney alight. But we have not really haveny awoken from our slumber especially im he batting department. I hopw simmons still in form. Good to se charles get some runs at the top but the machine does not looked oiled going into this knockout segment. I wish them the best though.
In reply to brians_da_best
Need to book mark this.

WI have absolutely Zero chance against NZL chasing. You can forget it. Maybe if WI bat first and Gayle goes ballistic and sets them a target of 350+, WI may have a chance. That's all you can hope for.
I don't see anyone in this line up making runs against bolt, vettori and Southee. If any They will reduce WI to 30-3 or something like that.
In reply to gvenkat
Talk is cheap. When is the match? Let them bring on Crowe, Bond, cairns, whoever. Them getting whipped, black and blue.

Nz and boult will destroy windies
In reply to yardman83
We'll lift our game in the quarters. New zealand is one of the most vulnerable team in that group, just the way south africa is in ours. Both can be brittle in crunch games.
We are two time world champions, we know what winning is about
Anderson will look to score another fastest hundred
We have this guy

Should I bookmark this post????

YOu can talk all you want but it will come down to which WI side comes out on that day... If it was a focused attack then NZ can be in for some trouble.
Yes their bowling is good but their batting is untested. But for McCullum and Guptil not many of the other have had a decent knock so far. Pressure at home will surely have an impact in the final match at home. Remember 1992....
With WI my concern is the back up bowlers. Taylor, Russel and Holder are doing well. It will come down to the remaining 20 overs and fitness of Gayle
In reply to brians_da_best
Your optimism is very unrealistic, NZ has been performing at the top of their game all tournament and we have struggled to finish fourth.
Where in those stats do you see us beating anyone going forward?
You have to be basing your positiveness on dumb luck and nothing else. Dat nah gonna work bro.
In reply to Cheeks
Will that guy take any wickets?
In reply to emrmike
Just be thankful that they made the Q/F but based on form and talent they will struggle vs NZ. I was unimpressed with our performance vs UAE.
In reply to Pacy
Williamson
Ross Taylor
Corey Anderson scored the fastest century against us only to be bested by AB couple months later again vs West Indies.
Southee
In reply to voiceofreason
When Holder was bowling, we showed some purpose, but the usual lethargic attitude set in and the overall performance just was not good enough.
ITS PURELY A MENTAL THING FOR THE WI. They can beat NZ...THEY HAVE THE ABILITY they just have to lift themselves,
In reply to don1
"I would like to see Gayle replace Smith, and Benn/Miller replace Roach."
Agreed....
The NZ batsmen will eat Roach for breakfast. We need some diversity in our bowling, and a left-arm spinner provides that.
On current form New Zealand should beat the WI quite easily. However life does not always follow the obvious script and sports like life can sometimes be quite unexpected.I am therefore surprised that people are saying that mebbe we shouldn't even bother turning up.
In reply to Dukes
All I gine say is this.........they are due a bad game, let us hope it is next Friday........we need to string together three good games if we want to upset the apple cart..........and enough time for badman to get close to being lil fit.......dais all..........
We'll lift our game in the quarters. New zealand is one of the most vulnerable team in that group, just the way south africa is in ours. Both can be brittle in crunch games.
