is an idiot. The man can absolutely bat, scored a 50 in the last test.
Yes, he had a bad second test, but even lara and tendulkar have failed in matches. Imagine if we were to drop them after one failure.
Devon deserves a run in this team, this constant dropping or threatening to drop him will not help his confidence

Whoever says Devon should be dropped

So you are comparing Devon with Lara and Tendulkar? Wow
Devon deserves a run in this team, this constant dropping or threatening to drop him will not help his confidence
He might even get a run in this team but he has already shown that he dosent have confidence and fire this series. He knows that he is no more young and has to start performing but still Misses out of 3 of the 4 innings...
On the Contrary look at Blackwood. Young man who has just come in and was dropped after a 50 in the first test, Sees Shai hope just breathing on his back, Critics questioning his FC performance this year. He fights and performs every opportunity that he gets. We need guys like Blackwood and Devon

Jackalobe, even Larwah will disagree with you on this analogy.
No one would've dropped Lara or tendy after a failure in 1 match simply because of their averages (10 times better than shyte hound Devon shyte) would've dictated the player they are. Their failure would've been an anomaly.
Furthermore, never use Devon shyte's name wif Lara or tendy again. That's sacrilegious.
Use his name with louse like ganga, Stuart Williams etc.

I see you trying to ridicule brian but Devon needs to play at least the last test to see how he goes.

Hoping against hope it is called, he is not the only one, the resident Devon Groupie quiet only shows up when he performs which is seldomly.

You just never know what ball a batman will get that will cause him to fail to perform. In the last match even our hero in this one did not do well did we drop him. The problem the West Indies have over the years of failure to improve is making the right decisions and not persisting with players like Devon simply because he is from the dotties. Devon can bat. He is one of our better player of fast bowling. Just give the man a reasonable chance and we will see. Do not let a good man down.

Really dude? 37 test matches is not reasonable?
In reply to brians_da_best
Aren't you de same skunt who was always calling for Ramdin's head for a 24 average...and ramdin's main role is keeping
Smith plays an important role opening the innings...a 50 every umpteenth innings is not going to cut it
At his age...he does not deserve more runs....he has played his first test 12 years ago.......he dominates regional cricket then promptly fails in tests...it is obvious he is not a test player.
In reply to Narper
Case closed.
Why does everyone pay mind to this guy? Phew....
After 37 test matches and an average that keeps receding towards zero some folks here think that Devon should be persisted with?
By now at age 33/ 34 one would think that there should be marked improvement. After all it is claimed and has been proved that a batsman is even more prolific at that time of his career. Just ask the Australians.
I think Devon has reached the pinnacle of his career and giving him additional matches is not going to make him better. He is what we thought he was.
Time to move on. The "Sell by" date on Devon Smith has come and gone.
We must now discard.

Exactly
In reply to InHindsight
He should get a run till the end of the home series
In reply to brians_da_best
Yep
14.5 Samuels to Ballance, no run, dropped! It was shortish and slightly wide outside off, Ballance goes for the cut and ends up edging it to the right of slip, Smith dives to his left, gets both hands to it, juggles it twice but puts it down in the end. He wasn't happy withn himself as he went for the catch a little too early. He had more time but he panicked there

I dont mind Devon getting a chance. I would not be concerned even if he continues in the team even for the Aussie series.
But what I am saying is that Devon has to perform. He cannot score a 50 in 6 innings and say he needs a chance. He has to be lot more consistent to be given a longer run since he has loads of exp and at the moment he should be producing a lot more.
In reply to Narper
Ever wonder why the man panicks? He is under constant pressure to justify his spot, and the axe is always hanging around his neck.
He deserves to get a run until the end of the Australia tests, at least
In reply to Pacy
Fair enough.
If he gets the Australia tests and fails, drop him. forever. But until then, give him a run
In reply to brians_da_best

Every single player goes through this pressure....that is why it is called TEST cricket
THE ONLY WEST INDIAN PLAYER WHO DIDN'T HAVE THIS PRESSURE WAS SAMMY
Look today....even Shiv is under pressure...and it is building more and more on him
In reply to brians_da_best
Even if he gets dropped before that I would not mind. He has not used his opportunities.
Dis Seko dude should change his name to SICKO
You have to be sick in the head to want Devon to be a part of anything higher than club cricket
In reply to Narper
I was dat skunt.

The same people who said Kemar should be dropped.

Dont take credit for that
Brian be Best was attaking Ramdin for years. You are a newbie to hating Ramdin.

Before you became a backroom legend adored by all you were the scourge of the rum shop.

37.3 Samuels to Ballance, no run, dropped by Devon Smith at 2nd slip. Easy catch as Ballance drove and got an outside edge. Smith went to his right and dropped a simple straightforward take
Someone just call him a clumsy cricketer, his batting and now two catches.
Time to kick this dude to the curve
