What does it say about the future of WI Cricket, certainly doesn't augers well with our hope of returning to the top echelon of ICC test rankings. I am hoping that there will be a reversal of fortune in their upcoming matches. The problem is that folks are convinced that we should replace our senior players with younger inexperienced players.

Common sense tells me even when we did well in U19 - I believe with Alleyne, Pooran, Mayers, etc - we still did nothing with that crop of youngsters. Seems if we do well or badly our ability to transition to the next level is still lacking.

I have to rest my case:
"Bangladesh Under-19s crushed West Indies Under-19s by 171 runs in Chittagong to clinch the three-match Youth ODI series with a game to spare. The home side continued their steady rise in the age-group level leading into the Under-19 World Cup which begins on January 27 in Chittagong."

I am so convinced of the poor selection of this U19 team that I would pay good money to see an arranged match between this team and St. Elizabeth Technical High School from Jamaica or against Combermere High School from Barbados.

Out of that crop only Pooran had a really impactful innings. Others were decent by the current WI standards which is way below par.

Like International cricket before, U19 cricket has become commercial and other teams have started investing in that bunch professionally. So WI U19 team would not be able to compete with them. Poor young kids who are not to be blamed. They might be natural athletes & stroke makers but they dont have the professional grooming that their competitors have.

Only teams WI U19 can really compete with are the Zim, SA, SL teams. Other teams have good programs or better natural talent.

The fact is that at ALL LEVELS of Cricket in the Region :

OUR PLAYERS ARE PLAYING LESS CRICKET

THAN THEIR COUNTERPARTS ON MOST

INTERNATIONAL TEAMS .

This is compounded by the fact that

AT ALL LEVELS THE STANDARD OF CRICKET

IN THE REGION IS PISS POOR .

There exists an abundance of Evidence
to verify what I have stated above.
Now the blame must not only be placed on the Players .

In my opinion most of the blame is on
the people in the governance of Cricket in the Region who for roughly 89 freaking years have not changed the structure of Cricket in the Region , despite commissioning several Reports .

The only conclusion that sensible people can arrive at is that they love the 89 year old Structure , and they are fearful that if the Structure Changes , their power will be diluted .

This is precisely wht they are fighting the Regional Governments
Tooth & Nail to remain in the governance of the 89 year old Structure .

So what is been done by WICB and respective territories to improve this lack of cricket playing time and experience necessary for our young cricketers to excel? Additionally like the test team, the WICB should have arranged more warmup games not only in Bangladesh but also here at home with other U19 teams.

Thanks Pacy for the borrowed Quote but does anyone believes the following statement from Chief of Selectors Lloyd:

Speaking on the squad, Chairman of Selectors Clive Lloyd noted: “We have put together a group of players we believe will perform for the West Indies. We see them as future Test cricketers for the West Indies and this tour is an opportunity for them to be exposed at the international level against strong opposition.”

So this actually confirms my conviction that the U19 is a look into WI cricket future, we will soon become Bangladesh's beating stick with those types of team selections.

I have no problem with what you have suggested , but they & their Supporters here will obviously state their standard refrain , which is they have no money .

The Funny thing is that now the Regional Governments wants them fired
they are doing a lot of Rollouts these days .

Wrong group the last time we did ok was with KB, Jason, Jomel, and Shane, Blackwell was also in the team. We were in the semis

We lost our way, even if there was better management, we still are not producing quality youth players.
