HEADLINE: Narine faces club cricket ban

CaribbeanCricket.com 2016-01-20 06:49:08

Banned from international cricket by the ICC, off-spinner Sunil Narine could find himself prohibited from even playing for Queen’s Park in the forthcoming 2016 season if the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board (TTCB) executive passes a motion to extend his ban domestically.

Reports have emerged that a nationwide block on Narine was discussed at the last executive meeting with no firm decision made.

Speaking with Newsday yesterday mere minutes prior to a 6pm executive meeting, TT CB ist vice-president Dr Allen Sammy acknowledged that Narine was a topic on the agenda.

“I hear the president (Azim Bassarath) say something about Sunil Narine but I don’t know what is the discussion yet,” he said.

Apparently he went deaf afterwards- What on earth will posses the board to ban him from club cricket?

Pelt is pelt at any level.

Str8_Drive 2016-01-20 07:16:17

How do you address other pelters without addressing Narine ?

Though harsh this could be to protect other current pelters from what Narine had to go through.

Maybe if Narine had been banned during his school boy days he would have a better chance of a successful career now.

I know they did remediation work while he was even in WI u19 , but still we are where we are now.

This shit is surreal.

The guy goes from number one ODI and T20 bowler to not even being able to play cricket he would barely want to play anymore in normal circumstances.

Imusic and Chrissy still don't see anything wrong with his action though.

Is funny when ppl have on blinders for their own agendas.
If you ban from the top level cause you pelt, it should carry through to all levels.
If he's to play what that would be saying is, no you can pelt take wickets at the lower level but not at the top level
Wrong is still wrong
Ppl need to stop support assness

n accordance with Article 6.1 of the regulations, "Narine's international suspension will also be recognised and enforced by all National Cricket Federations within domestic cricket events played in their own jurisdiction, save that, with the consent of the West Indies Cricket Board, Narine may be able to play in domestic cricket events played under the auspices of the West Indies Cricket Board."

It is an international ban, The TTCB can ban him from domestic cricket, but WICB can grant him an exemption.

It would be wise to allow him to play in the 4 day tournament when it resumes, he need to bowl for longer periods under scrutiny.

Just saying.

Good on TTCB....ah wondering if he did any remedial work since de ban?

johndom90 2016-01-20 12:47:06

will he be banned from windball cricket, beach cricket, where does it stop. Where is he allowed to play in TT?

The iCC called it a suspension, as in temporary. If he's banned from this and that, where exactly is he going to work on remodeling his action? This to me is another example of the colonial yes boss mindset. An edict was passed by the big house and the TTCB rush to be compliant.,

Its' asinine of Bassarath and the TTCB to take it this far. The man has been WI number 1 in one day and t20 for the past year. The only one showing tangible support is KKR.....isnt' that something.

Shouldn't he have to demonstrate that he can bowl a legal delivery before being allowed to play locally?

Cornfused 2016-01-20 14:08:04

Narine will be back , have no fear

Where do you suggest he demonstrate his progress?
In his backyard....on a xoncrete pirch somewhere?

Would'nt it b more prudent that he b allowed club cricket....actual cricket so that he can demonstrate progress or lack off?

Would CA have done the same were it Shane Warne?
Absolutely not!

will he be banned from windball cricket

My sentiments exactly. If he took 10 wickets in the T&T Club Championship (don't know what it's called exactly), wouldn't the opposing side lodge a complaint if his action was considered suspect?

navindesigns 2016-01-20 15:20:00

he learned his trade from windball cricket

Wouldn't the umpires be the ones to lodge a complaint if they suspect his action? I am not sure if the opposing side can do this if the umpires allowed him to bowl...

I remember when Jermaine Lawson pelted down Oz for 10 scalps in a match. During the match the umpires said or did nothing. It was Cricket Australia that lodged the complaint.

On another note, Windies umpires for years have looked at Narine's & Shillingford's faulty action and did nothing.
