THE BRIAN Lara Stadium in Tarouba is set to host opening round matches in the West Indies Premier Cricket League (PCL) Four-Day Tournament in the 2016-2017 season which gets under way in November-December. And the Minister of Sport, Darryl Smith, says this gives his ministry a target to have the stadium completed and ready by that time.

That too but credit has to be given to those who started it in 2004 to be opened for the 2007 WC and who now are back on the job to finish it just in time for Lara's 2017 Carnival fete.

Give thanks!

The Brian Lara stadium could have been finished years ago by the previous government but they left it in an unfinished state using it as a political football to attack the PNM.

At the end of the day many fans are happy the stadium will be ready in Novermber and that is most important regardless how you feel about the PNM.

‘Project scandalous,

out of control’

In 2009, the structural steelwork on the stadium was condemned according to a report into the Udecott project prepared by Gerry McCaffrey, the construction expert hired by the Uff Commission of Enquiry.

McCaffrey’s initial report into the project revealed that HKL ignored 300 “stop orders” for work on the project.

Chairman of the commission of enquiry into Udecott, Professor John Uff, QC, described the Brian Lara project as “nothing short of scandalous” and “out of control.”

lol lol lol

I wonder if it's still sinking on one side.

It may indeed have the famous Lord's slope. The only difference is that you'll need a ski lift to get back up the hill. lol

In reply to problemjay Ah feel some are all your does be running out of ideas and just want to get noticed! That stadium was built on sugar cane land. That stadium would not last. It would be cheaper to build a new stadium in a different location. Ah feel Rowley wine on you and you get stupid.
