My condolences to friends and family. I know a good friend of Mr. Lindsay and heard many good things about him. May they rest in peace. I am sorry for your loss Chrissy.

I am sorry to hear of Louis' passing. Louis and I, or as we called him, "sicky" were at Ardenne together. We were in the same form but not the same class even though we attended the same biology class. Louis was extremely political. At lunch time when most of us were talking sports and salivating over the many Nubian princesses passing by, Louis would be looking around for someone to talk politics. Even at that young age he was fairly well versed in Marxism. Trotsky must have been his idol because, he often referred to him. I don't recall Louis having much to say about Manley and Busta.
We did not really understand Louis' brand of politics much less appreciate it. His older brother with whom I opened the sunlight attack one year, was always warning others not to listen to him. In 1961 a refugee from Cuba Senora jenez joined the staff as Spanish teacher. This in a way was a blessing for Louis because he took the opportunity to argue Marxism with her at a non-novice level. Often times, Louis would be armed with a copy of the Communist manifesto pleading with us to have a read. I don't know if any of us took him up on his offer.
I don't recall if Louis sat the senior cambridge exam. What he did from 4th form on was to do Olevels from the London Univ board. Taking 2 subjects at a time rather than waiting to take 6 or 8 subjects at senior Cambridge.
I lost touch with Louis when I left jamaica in 1962 but I often thought about him. Sometime ago, someone told me that he graduated from yale and was teaching political science at UWI. Thank you Chrissy for sharing his research paper with us. I haven't read it as yet but I will later on. Right now I am picturing Louis expounding on something political with his half clenched fist going to and fro from his mouth. Somewhat strange that Ardenne, a Church of God school with then principal Miss Mary Olsen would tolerate a young Marxist "pretender" like Louis. Rest in peace Sicky. Thanks for the memories.

Louis was a freaking political genius. Sadly he was not rewarded for this and other original work. He genuinely contributed to knowledge - but way too many ignored him.
I think he was conceptually and analytically closer to Gramsci than to the other Marxists.
He had an amazing mind (add).
He recognized BS faster than most.

You might want to write a tribute so that I can pass it on to the family.

Did Winston Blake have a radio show, or was it Winston 'The Whip' Williams doing a show on Merritone's behalf?
In reply to Drapsey

Louis Lindsay -- a "Brilliant Mind". RIP Louis the articulate. You will rarely find a better articulator of complex political issues. His material are good reads.
