I struggle to see why professional sportsman 'fly' out of their contracts to see a baby born.In the modern era why?

why?
to show appreciation.

I figure its more so for the support of the mother and to have the experience themself rather than for the childs's benefit.

Although i now wonder, as I wasn't there for the birth of my daughter, she's a teen now and occassionally asks me about her birth, like how i felt, and what did she look like, and have to keep reminding her I wasn't there.

Not sure how she feels about that...

i thought you done that by being his/ her father for the rest of your life.
Imagine Bob Marley on tour and he cancelled the date when he hits your town to go back to jamaica to look at one of his kids being born.

First child born I was getting in the midwife way. she told me to sit down and let her get on with her job.
Second child- delivered myself cos the hospital sent the mother home saying that the baby wasn't due.And it felt like coming out in the middle of the night in our bed.
third child he was born at the hospital without me being there and I went to collect the mother and child.
My closest bond is with the one who I wasn't at his birth.

always wondered about that? and why men want to be in the delivery room to see the baby actually coming out? i mean, what is with that? and you know what, most men collapse on seeing the baby and what accompanies it coming out or the expanse the baby induced in coming into this world.

some men see it and just can't shake the vision which makes them not see their partner in a sexual way again..

You don't believe the woman he loves and who loves him, wants him there for the birth of their first child?

Cos sometimes thats all it comes down to, what a woman wants, logic is never their strong point.

So it aint got to make any sense..she just feel like..

sunfish 2016-04-21 10:15:40

'Blush Gayle' does not resonate in my mind.. Sounds corny. Hope she is not made fun of at school. Do parents think about the names they assign to their children?

Gayle out there earning for their child. If he is in Ja at the time so yeah summon him if ya need him physically there. But i still see the whole thing as medieval.
If he was playing for my franchise and I was paying him and he was vital to my team winning or losing I would try to twist his arm to stay put.

1. To support your baby mother especially if it is her first.
2. To hold your child for the first time.
3. To give your child a name (officially).
4. To comfort in case of complications.

For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?

If someone is not there for the birth then he is not there but if you can be there then why not be there? How much of Gayle's net worth did he lose by going to be there? Probably less than the "Don't Blush, Baby" comment.

4. To comfort in case of complications.

Womens still die during childbirth. For some the experience can be likened to major surgery. A husband should be there to support the wife, if she desires, after all that body trauma.

imusic 2016-04-21 15:29:46

In 2009, gayle flew back to jamaica on the eve of the first test match in OZ to be with his ailing mum

Now he leaves IPL to be present at the birth of his child

Someone who clearly loves his family and has the means to literally be there for them at major moments. I really don't see anything wrong with it. Matter of fact.....plenty right IMO

Commie 2016-04-21 16:15:48

Cheeks 2016-04-21 16:22:53

By all indications.

Gayle like most celebrities in modern times seems to have an exaggerated public persona... His "brand".

But even Tino Best has confessed he's a decent guy.

By all indications, puts family first
