This has to be a joke, right?

So you don't agree that certain types of Dancehall are bad influence to the weaker minds? We see it all the time.."gun down dis and gundown dat, bwoy geh kill blood brains bone and marrow, dill dill dill ah bwoy get kill"..
Man have a point..dunno how it can be banned though, maybe discouraged or sanitized/scrutinized/specially selected..

Politics is serious business.

Time to ban cars that travel over the speed limit because that will only encourage people to drive recklessly.
Also ban bikinis at the beach because that will turn men into rapists. I mean who are we kidding? A bikini is a bra and a panty masquerading as swim wear.
Also ban the internet. Studies show people do nothing constructive there anyway.
Then the world and our village will be a better place.

Finally a decent post from you. Nicely done.

Well I've been calling for its banning donkey years now. Sure it's not the root of all our problems but it damn well is contributing to our decay.

Test cricket commentary.
so dem aint going play Rhi Rhi dancehall tunes eidda o she getting special exception?
In reply to Commie
Maybe classical and jazz may inspire folks to spend hours each day learning to play a musical instrument.

....along with the reappearance of the soul patch.
Some dancehall music is not worthy of airplay, but to ban is a stretch - a promotion of the black market a la selling of alcohol back in the days!
Yes, music does influence people's behavior! see the decadence behavior of some ppl in Jamaica - directly linked to the word or lyricsmith of the day! Ramping shop, anyone?

any song with offensive content should be banned, whatever music form it comes in.
Don't see how or why there should be a blanket ban on any genre of music no matter how bad it is-if specific songs are deemed to be inciting a criminal behaviour then they should be judged on an individual basis.

exactly!
In reply to camos
A little subtlety goes a far way, dancehall is raw chaw for the most part!
In reply to XDFIX
Exactly. If they engage the brain and use a little clever innuendo it wouldn't be so bad.
king of the dancehall a ban?

In reply to camos

I find you're turning to jelly here pal, maybe you need a 'black(poster)' injection...that's your best reasoning? Why don't we control the bad drivers and defective cars?
Also I do not believe you know or love dancehall/dub like me...makes me feel to pick up ah matic..but my matic legal and is for defense..and I would never let anything control me to do wrong, but that's just ME..
Some real good conscious releases recently..Like 'sell yuh gun' etc
When Bob Marley sang about the burning of churches did anybody follow through on that? I agree that specific songs should be banned but to call for a ban of the genre? methinks that is stretching it a bit too far. Any song where the radio announcer has to mute every two words in a line should be banned.
On a related note didn't Tommy Lee win his case against the Dominican government?
