I have been hearing and reading about the "real" West Indies team playing in the CPL and the "other" team playing the test series and I am a bit puzzled.
Of the CPL stars, Dwayne Bravo has retired from test cricket more than a year and a half ago. Andre Russell barely plays first class cricket. Sunil Narine doesn't pick up wickets in test cricket (21 from 11 innings @ 40.52). Jerome Taylor has moved on, Kemar Roach hasn't been a contender for a while. Denesh Ramdin was available and left out.
Johnson Charles has a first class average of 20.92 after 63 innings, Andre Fletcher averages just about 30 after 114 innings. Darren Sammy doesn't bring any particular skill to Test cricket.
So who really are they missing?
Maybe Lendl Simmons (test average 17 after 16 innings)? Kieron Pollard possibly (first class average 37).
And so, it is really only one player they are missing.
Chris Gayle.
Which leads me to believe this is about a deeper malaise in first class and test cricket rather than who is not being picked. And about a clear preference to playing T20 cricket.

TBH those players that are missing have the potential to do better than those that are playing,we can't always take statistics as evidence of ability. How many times we see at trials,a batsman make a big score and is left out for one who scores less, same with bowlers who may take 5 wkts but doesn't get picked.I have seen it in youth cricket from 12 years old to 19,it happens elsewhere.

Bogle is an idiot...hard to believe that he doesn't realize that clapping is the most sought after skill in test cricket.period.

The Indian co mine is right in this case but I am tempted to label him a Captain Obvious since his sentiments have been expressed here over and over so contrary how you put it, we were not told by Bhogle.
He is just desperately trying to justify India beating the best possible West Indies team but that is not true in my opinion.
I don't believe that any replacements would change drastically the overall results but this is clearly not the best eleven that West Indies can put on the field for Test.

Is it Harsha trying to justify or is it you guys pretending these losses aren't real and some mythical players from 1976 that exists in 2016 would have turned the tables?

Nope
Maybe more than 10yrs ago I was telling mates in Dxb that harsha was an embarrassment to them
That was even before he fell head over heels for west indian-ness in the forms of bravo, Narine and CLT20 Ganga

You're a real idiot, aren't you? A typical West Indian with their stupid "talent and potential" talk. I could find a fu#king a 16-year old batsman playing school cricket in the Caribbean who would outperform these clowns? What the fu#k does that mean? I could go out there and fluke my way to 20? What does it mean?
Of course there are options. Someone fails repeatedly, play someone else, that's an option. Idiot.
Simmons and Pollard have learned a lot? Learned a lot based on what? They learned how to bat in Test cricket by playing years of fu#king pajama T20 cricket around the world?

You and Harsha are clowns.
WICB has invested more in Chandrika test's career than it did in Pollard's & Simmons'.
This argument can only be based on potential, based on the fact that Pollard has never played a test
Seeing the upward arc in Simmon's T-20 and ODI stats, once can reasonably assume that had he been playing FC or Test cricket with the same frequency, his stats there would also have trended upwards.
Lets not forget Sarwan, Nash who were discarded way before their sell by date.
The issue is not so much the current available substitues, and their current stats, its more the complete and total mismanagment and marginalisation of our most talented players.
The WICB obviously sacrificed them for reasons other than cricket

Harsha sees everything from the perspective of this Indian series, while the exclusion of the "real WI team" has been going on for years.
However, anyone who thinks that Chandrika is an upgrade on either Gayle or Simmons is an ass. That simple. Ditto for Narine vs Bishoo.
The Real WI team would obviously be a blend of those playing the CPL and the India series, and would have to have been cultured over the years by the WICB. Instead players like DJ Bravo & Pollard were forced out and excluded from WI cricket.
Here's what the team should have been:
Gayle
K Braffit
Samuels
DE Bravo
DJ Bravo
Pollard
Dowrich (WK)
Holder
Narine
Taylor
Gabriel

Cricinfo stat..2005..the last time a WI player took a five for and made a half century in the same test for WI.
DJ Bravo was the player, did Harsha omit him from your lead post?
I won't even bother to look back at that loada shite to see if he did. *spit*
Our best and obivously most talented players, are not "humble" enough for the WICB, and not appreciative of the crumbs from the head table they are being offered.
That is the issue in a nutshell, we the fans have to suffer, Fuzzy and his kind can be happy wid dis shite.
I refuse to see how any real WI fan can think the behaviour of the WICB in the last 10 years or so..is reasonable, and for the greater good.
What will happen when Carlos and Blackwood start getting IPL offers?
