Time for the WICB to be dissolved

Philospher39 2016-08-21 11:54:51

I have never seen such an inept organization than the WICB. First of all in most countries putting a product without substantive results would require someone losing their jobs.

However, we have the president of the WICB praising his efforts based on the development of the PCL. If I stand corrected the PCL was designed to help West Indies in the linger format. WI successes has been in a shorter format. Pardon me if I don't see the correlation.

Selection issues is another factor...why are the selectors dropping their best potential stars for mediocre ones at best. Does not make sense that you would drop Carlos Brathwaite and recently Alzarri Joseph at the expense of Marlon Samuels who have not doNE anything substantial in three test series and still the selectors persist in picking him.

Professionalism....the board decided to drop Sammy from 20/20 squad on the eve of the St.Lucia test match and expect crowds to see the team play...this is height of pettiness, this is the inability to see the big picture.

Last but not least, the rain out test in Trinidad, three full days has been lost for a wet outfield even though the sun is shining bright. This us due inadequate facilities and equipment.

Only in the caribbean, this type of ineptitude and incompetence is the norm.

I agree with most of what you say except that the QPO is owned by a private entity. I would think that proper drainage should be their responsibility. Unless it was Kamla's ATM that was funding its upkeep all along.

Why stop at Samuels?

Bravo hasn't done anything of worth either.

Oh well!

The WIC bears some responsibilities here, as the agent for cricket some due diligence is required before entering a contact with QPO.

Agreed that the facilities is QPO to upkeep.

QPO could be a private entity but then assigning an international match is it not the responsibility of the organisation to award matches to check if all necessary facilities are in place?

Priapus 2016-08-21 14:45:30

In reply to Pacy

At the risk of sounding like an apologist for the Board (i can assure you that i am not) how would they have ensured that the drainage worked? By dumping a few truckloads of water on the outfield and see how it responds?

In any case, is drainage only important when it involves an international fixture? What about a PCL game? The drainage system is not important then?

This falls snap dab on Derryk Murray's plate - he should pay more attention to the QPO and less blabbering his mouth to CARICOM about Lemonade Dave and the WICB. smile

i understand you cannot improve drainage of the grounds over night how about insisting on super sopper, covers for the outfield and other steps they could have done?

After all they would know they are playing in Aug and the ground does not have good drainage already. But that would be too much to think.

It's not only the WIC that is empty, It's the private and Gov't agencies that are managed similarity, In order for the WIC to improve, those agencies that provide resources must step up and provide assistance to improve our cricket.

I posted on this recently and was accused of 'ad hominem'.

You need to think.. how can wicb know that these qpcc titie skunts were going to sabotage like this... nan think for once.

But they will make sure that tnt don't get any more games.. don't cry foul then..

Correct boss, As I said before in order for the WIC to improve the agencies and private entities that do business with the WIC must improve.

a man accused me of "ad hominem', in reference to Ralphie, if this person only knew that i spent 5 years studying Latin, 3 of those years the head master was teaching the class, in my class there was a chap with a big head.

we have to differ here, the local board is responsible for Ground upkeep and maintenance, that includes modern day equipment, staff, and proper drainage, i think we all default to blaming the WICB...this is not right.

Even if you cover 100% of the field , how do u dispose of the rain-off of the covers, u may need a retention system. Maybe the field has to be re-design.

Lemonade Dave isn’t going anywhere - CARICOM just talking tough, West Indian style - all fluff and no substance.

Watch whenever there is an election brewing in any Island, that Island politician/s will go after the WICB spewing their bullcrap for brownie points.

ok But what is the requirements?????

I get what everyone is saying, perhaps grounds that don't meet a certain standard should lose international status, but until is specific criterion is set, there no need to lay any blame, just something to fix IMHO

For many years in this Forum I have been and remain a staunch Critic of
the Worst International Cricket Board
in the Commonwealth , aka the WICBC .

Cameron et al have bluntly refused to
change their 89 years old Structure . Worse yet Their Sycophants in the Media are perpetually Aiding & Abetting them in their wilful destruction of Cricket in the Region .
