The unfit Cornwall
In reply to Kay
Plus the keeper put down an easy chance of
his bowling.
In reply to Kay
Dem not saying he is unfit.....dem saying he too fat.....that his size will embarrass dem...dem doan care how well he performs
In reply to Narper
If his fatness will embarrass them, how do they feel about the constant licks the slim fellas get? That is not embarrassing, I guess once we slim and tek licks it's better than being fat and blocking licks? What a thing eh
Sounds like a Tante Merle joke Fatboy blocking while Slimboys chupsing
In reply to Runs
Nah similar philosophy dem had about Shiv...
His batting stance embarass dem
He bat too slow...un West Indian like
He ONLY playing for not out
He too old...dem order him to retire
and 6 years after....they don't have single batsman to replace him...and dem looking now for investments
In reply to Narper
If dem really saying dat, den is pure foolishness dem talking.

In reply to Narper
At what age Shiv should retire?
In reply to FuzzyWuzzy
So a discussion about Cornwall is used as a thinly veiled ruse to bring the 42 year old Shiv into the conversation....
In reply to FuzzyWuzzy
At what age Shiv should retire?
Is there an age in the cricket laws to retire?
If yes....then Shiv should retire at that age
If no....then you can force retire him by dropping him if there are 3 or 4 top order batsmen better and consistently performing better than him
In reply to Larr Pullo
Why de fcuk would I need a veiled ruse to even start a thread about Shiv...much less bring him into a conversation...eh Dumbass?
Don't judge me by your inherently low standards
And check yuh facts....Shiv retired by Opiss at 36 years old
In reply to Narper
FUCK YOU Yuh single issue skunthole!!!
In reply to Larr Pullo
HYM dutty stink kunt asshole !!!
The salient point is being conveniently ignored by some, overweight folk are susceptible to heart disease, hypertension and stroke. QED.
In reply to sunfish
The pommies have seen Cornwall. They have aplan for him.
If he is selected. They will hit the ball in his direction.Easy runs.
This is where he will be a liability.
What fielding position will he be an asset ?
In reply to Ridge
I thought he was the best gloveman in the Caribbean
In reply to Narper
Weekes and Walcott retired at 32 and 31
In reply to Kay
Nah Meh Fren....Its THE TOO FAT CORNWALL.
The irony and ignorance surrounding this issue is amazing to me. But I understand it because I have embarrassed myself until I learned that fat and fit and health are not straight line and simple relationships that most people believe.
Its one of the reasons I've been so passionate about this. These errors can be costly for the athletes if ignoramuses - as I was - have their way.
Individuals, physical routines, body structures and cultures all have so much to do with fitness...and you cant see that by simply looking at a person.
God Speed Young man.
In reply to sgtdjones
Shouldnt really be answering but...
Why haven't all the other teams he played against for years been hitting the ball towards him?
In reply to Tagwa1
How many times has he played England, SA, Australia, India etc
I am torking dem best teams , not the A tours etc.
Where are u gonna hide him?
In reply to sgtdjones
You never really played this game at any level eh.
Who looks at who's fielding where to hit the ball to them? Guy stop your ignorance.
anyway my fault to be even discussing a foolish fake issue as the one you are raising.
In reply to Tagwa1
Look at the 50 game recently that T&T played
get the tape and you will see cornwall running and trying to field balls hit
in his direction and how his captain kept moving him.
he couldn't run and bend down.
Brung please select him to play so I can show this person what I know .
In reply to Runs
cricket.
Listen...Cornwall is a classic example of the continued failures that beset Windies Cricket....
International cricket has featured burly players before....notice I said burly....Inzammam Ul Haq, Merv Hughes, David Boon and Jacques Kalliss come to mind.
None of the aforementioned allowed their heft to keep them from playing consistent, quality cricket. Their statistics bear that out.
BUT INTERNATIONAL CRICKET HAS YET TO PRODUCE A PLAYER WITH THE LEVEL OF CORPULENCE THAT IS RAKIM CORNWALL.
In reply to tc1
Weekes and Walcott retired at 32 and 31
That was in de stone age....when life expectancy was 65
Do you believe Weekes would retire at 32 today?
Cornwall is delivering with bat and ball....match after match...what more can you ask of a young player.
Is he overweight...yes...he looks so....but...he is young enough...and I am sure with proper encouragement and guidance....he can lose the weight and become fitter and better....like ANY other player who would aspire to become fitter and better
He is performing well NOW.....why wait until he loses the weight....just to please some....who don't like HOW HE LOOKS ON THE FIELD
In reply to Narper
Ditto.
In reply to anandgb
It's funny that most people who cussing how he 'looks' on the field probably looks just as bad at their own jobs, and not performing as well.
We have this thing that folks have to fit a certain mold to be a certain way.
Imagine Cornwall's performance trumps so many other guys who 'looks' fitter than him. And also no one can deny that the guy hasn't lost weight.
I spoke to his coach from LI U-13 the guy has always been big and talented, most folks and Cornwall himself knows that he has to do more. I think that's why it was decided at the highest level to invest more in a proper fitness regime for him.
Funny thing though is that he (Cornwall) sees himself as a bowler, while the coaches feel he's a better batsman. Whatever it is he's a very good all rounder and will only get better once he's exposed to the game at the highest level.
edit, Thanks Larr - No one can deny that the guy has lost weight
In reply to positiveg
You're right, he hasn't!
In reply to Larr Pullo
Ok so i made an error and you caught it. Thanks.
No one can deny that he has lost weight.
In reply to positiveg
Well in truth most people like you and I are not being paid to stay fit and perform at professional sports levels. An athlete's body is his most valuable asset as an athlete being unfit can lead to him being injury prone. It would be in Conrwall's best interest to lose some weight as that would prevent him from sustaining frequent injuries especially with the rigors of international cricket EG. Rampaul, Sarwan.
According to this interview he fancies his batting:

You did not the watch the second Super50 Semi-final. Pride hit the ball to Cornwall and run routinely while was fielding at Mid-on/Wide-Mid wicket. He was moved (hidden) to short fine leg, and they did the same.
Just saying ....
In reply to Veracity
Notice they didn't see that.
The kid is a liability on the field , hit that ball a few feet from him
and you get runs. They just have to look at the recent 50 tourney videos.
In reply to Kay
Cornwall is moving forward.
He made he A team..despite his size..and performed very well
He just made the Presidents 11 team
I am sure that there is a lot of debate about his weight, but he is moving through the system, towards international duty.
In reply to voiceofreason
He loves bowling bad, maybe one reason why he doesn't bat higher is because he throws his hand away most times when he bats. So if he was to put more into it maybe he'll be a #5. But he would just go for a big hit and come down and bowl 15 on the trot.
the coaches recognise that and that could really be one reason why he bats so low.
the way I see it he's got genuine talent and I rather see him as a batsman cause he hits the ball all around the field, and can come in turn over his hands give the team some wickets, cause many people take his bowling for granted.
About the liability in the filed. much better fielder than Narine, who's skinnier than him by the way. Very good slip fielder. And as far as being paid to play, wouldn't you say he's earning his paycheque?
In reply to positiveg
From what I have seen of him, he is primarily a bowler. It is very difficult for that style of batting to succeed at intl level. As a wicket taker who can bat a bit, I can see him pushing Chase out of all rounder position.
As a batsman who gets one or two wickets, he will not make the test team anytime soon.
In reply to sgtdjones... then place him on the leg side and bowl outside off.
In reply to positiveg... is he big or not? Are they cussing or stating a fact?
In reply to Veracity... them boys caan bowl.
In reply to Narper
Thinner, fitter cricketers aren't half as productive as Cornwall....much to their shame. Therein lies the tragedy!

In reply to positiveg
The fittest I remember him looking was in the CPL in 2013, he doesn't look up to that right now.
In reply to Narper
I say, play him now. Who cares if he's overweight, if he delivers the goods
In reply to Narper
Name me a player at 42 thinking of playing international cricket. Life is too short ..there are career path after sport.
The thing is most here would pick him in any eleven selected based on performance. So what's up selecta
