Carlos is an interesting exclusion, I think he is a better batsman than Rovman and just as an ineffective bowler.

Carlos gone to de IPL. It begs de question of why he played all 3 ODIs against England when he wud not be available for the Pakistan ODIs?

Wasn't it just a few short years ago players were being called all kinda names for not making demselves available for all formats and being punished for not accepting central contracts? Have dey seen de light???

DIEHARD Apr 3, 2017, 4:44:30 AM

Think the selectors missed a trick by not including one of Cornwall (preferred) Mayers or Reifer

Carlos bowling will not get anyone out

I'd like to think the selectors did the right thing and dropped him and not that he opted out.

They broke up with him.. not the other way around

mikesiva Apr 3, 2017, 5:39:58 AM

Dowrich was in the previous squad, and has similarly been excluded....

Kraigg has one of the slowest strike rates of all time...57.55.

But two other batsmen selected are not far behind.

Shai Hope...69.06

Jason Mohammed...69.47

Mr-Anguilla Apr 3, 2017, 5:46:00 AM

Batting looks thin!

positiveg Apr 3, 2017, 6:37:03 AM

In reply to Mr-Anguilla

Yep Batting does look thin
I would of kept Taylor and not brought in Cummins. Man can't get anyone out either.

This is my XI

Powell
Lewis
Hope
JMo
Carter
Walton
Rovman
Holder
Bishoo
AlJo
Gabriel

azadtnt Apr 3, 2017, 6:46:24 AM

Bishoo is a liability vs Pak, he normally bowls at least two loose balls an over as well as he very rarely uses the googly.
Chase and Cornwall are better and more effective bowlers who could bat as well.
K Williams should have included in this squad was very effective in the t20.
Not sure if Gabriel is fit??
WI need batsmen not power hitters, hence the batting is very thin in the region at the moment. Carriah is worth a look other than that ???.
GOOD LUCK TO WI THEY WILL NEED ALL WITH THIS BATTING LINEUP!!!

U have Bishoo twice.

I would leave out Cummins and Powell. Walton scored all his runs opening so if he plays should bat in the top 3 maybe top 4.

Walton
Lewis
Hope
Mohammed
Carter
Rovman
Holder
Nurse
Bishoo
Alzarri
Gabriel

Actually seeing that it is being played in GUY, Alzarri can be left out to play Powell because JMo really should be bowling and then u have Carter and Rovman to support him as the 5th bowler. Could Probably rotate Alzarri and Gabriel, ideally tho you'd have both and no Holder. In conditions like these u don't need a Holder, u have 2 out and out quicks, 2 spinners, 1 medium fast, 1 medium and 1 part time spinner.

Cariah? Not Yannic of de 9 List A batting average?

Dats homeboyism at its extreme.

Am curious as to why no Gabriel. Based on the eye test,he is not only the best we have, he is certainly the most likely to cause problems and take wickets.

thefacts Apr 3, 2017, 7:10:05 AM

Guess there is just one slot that is really not an auto pick

Evin Lewis
Chadwick Walton (wk)
Shai Hope
Jason Mohammed
Jonathan Carter
Rovman Powell
Jason Holder (Captain)
Ashley Nurse
Devendra Bishoo
-----------------Alzarri Joseph vs Miguel Cummins
Shannon Gabriel

Kieran Powell backup middle order

Sorry corrected, it was Gabriel was to be in there.
He was who I looked to first to pencil in.
I just hope he can stay healthy for these 3 ODI's
De man does break down too often

As for Holder it would be ideal too, but he's cappo so he gets to play.
The top 4 got to bat for at least 30 overs for us to make anything of a game, I think.
And I'll play a full time bowler in Joseph rather than going with a part time in Jmo just because of the wicket. Cause you remember we have Holder who will be bowling sweeties all day.

DIEHARD Apr 3, 2017, 7:15:31 AM

I benching one of the Powells and Cummins, based on what Rovman showed me vs the spinners in the T20Is, he sits Kieran gets a chance at #3, to try and find his early season List A form.

Lewis
Walton
K Powell
Hope
JMo
Carter
Holder
Nurse
Bishoo
Joseph
Gabriel

Cummins
Powell

The selectors are out in force, they have not seen the players up close, or work with them but are very astute, wise and knowledgeable

So happy to see Walton being a regular fixture. Besides being a good batsman and wicket keeper, he has a good head on his shoulders.

He also recognized the importance of education and after he got his Bachelor's went on to the Masters. Not sure if he is finished, but this was a long time ago. I think he was doing Banking and Finance or something financially related.

Well done chap.
