The second Test between England and Windies is nicely poised after an absorbing day's cricket on Sunday (August 27) at Headingley. Windies ended their first innings 169 runs ahead of the home team and had taken three wickets before the close to leave England 171 for 3 at stumps, leading by just two runs. With their captain Joe Root unbeaten on 45 and with seven wickets in hand, England are in a good position to set the tourists a challenging total tomorrow but Windies will fancy their chances of dismissing the hosts cheaply on a wearing pitch.

This was a fine day of Test cricket which had plenty of drama and suspense. There were dropped catches, five reviews in all, a caught behind that wasn't reviewed in addition to some quite brilliant bowling from Windies and some dogged batting by both teams. After the mismatch at Edgbaston in the first match of the series, this game has been a brilliant advert for Test cricket.

Delicately poised?

West Indies are clearly in the ascendancy. Nothing delicate about that. Now is just to finish the job

How could the test be delicately poised when the home team is in effect three wickets for two runs? Would it be delicately poised if windies were 3/2? We need to forget about England being 173 for 3 and see them at 3/2, with Joe Root not out 1 instead of 43. That's just what the English commentators are pushing on us and unfortunately we helping them push their agenda by falling for it. The reality is, England is in serious trouble and it is our game to lose.

2 more days to go..One of the world's best batsman is at the crease after having got a reprieve..so, it's delicately poised despite WI's unusual dominance.

I believe the game would be over today if: 1. We held our catches and took our run out chances 2. If captain had used his reviews better, but then again I can's blame Holder because he is a young captain and his wicketkeeper who is in a better position to see what happened so to guide captain is also young in test experience, and let's not forget we don't use replay in our regional completion so our players could get use to it. 3. it is bad that batsmen that are out are given not out because of bad reviews by the captain, and the umpires that are paid to give the outs and not outs are NEVER reprimanded for their poor decisions. In my opinion just as a team has no more reviews after two bad ones, umpires with two bad decisions in an inning should be replaced by the 3rd umpire, so the onus would be on them to do what needs to be done to ensure an out batsman never stays batting and one that was not out, should not be given out.
