A democratic process that was intended to have both parties working together for the appointment of a sensitive position was totally disregarded by Granger, who appointed the chairman himself.
He was heard saying "Fcuk it, I gon do me own ting"
Looking forward to him either giving his reasons for rejecting the lists or looking like a fool in court

Oil boi oil oui

Yep it either gonna result in massive upliftment of Guyana or civil war, the latter seems more likely at the moment.

Enlighten me, when the last person was appointed, did the then government follow
I assume you will agree the person who holds this position must be above racial baggage, can the Indo Centric opposition party meet this test?
In reply to Emir
Indo Centric opposition party meet this test?
You are truly a jackass.
But I will humor you.
The process is this:
The opposition submits a list of candidates, from this list the presidents makes an appointment.
The Indo-Centric party, when in government appointed the chairman from lists submitted by the then opposition. They never unilaterally appointed a chairman.

Boy I could not believe the amount of support that Jagdeo got in Toronto...anyway good luck..it looks like rough times ahead for Guyana..politically and economically..

I thought you wanted a better Guyana.
Granger's party was voted in to teach the PPP a lesson - not because the majority felt Granger's party would be better at running the country. As it is, Granger's party wasted its time with the past ("jailing the PPP thieves") and did nothing constructive. To booth, crime went up as soon as Granger took over.
Do you really think Granger's party will be voted in again in fair elections? If the plan is to rig the elections, won't Guyana wind up just as it did before under the PNC, that rigged non-stop to remain in power? A poor, disrespected country with no friends anywhere, begging the Caribbean and the rest of the world for everything?
The PPP was overrun by thieves, but that party's supporters are right to say that there was at least some economic progress under their rule. So, are we back to "PNC" supporters beating their chests emptily about "winning" elections that they rigged shamelessly?
What thing to be proud about!

Hola...Norm...its a cycle....but not only in Guyana..the world over..
the sad part is that everyone is saying under Granger there is no economic progress(I support no party)..and under the PPP there was...well the sad truth there was no econmic progress nor stability nor cash from econmic growth...all of that came from DRUGS..if there was any economic life under the past government it would had continued..there was ZERO..people need to understand that..show me industries that was created under PPP.

Right at the top of my head, the call center industry; made possible by the PPP govt putting a priority on getting high speed internet in the country and laying the cables
To say that the PNC are floundering due to the lack of "drug money" is an excuse. The money is being spent on white elephants like Durban Park, a single use stadium. The money is being spent on paying for the largest govt ever in Guyana's history, (this is after doubling their salaries).
The PNC are soo stupid, they are pushing agro processing, etc when the real problem with all of these industries is cheap energy. How can Guyana compete with countries like T&T when they have to import energy(oil)
The PPP recognized the solution of the fundamental energy problem is a prerequisite to the success of other endeavors.
Amaila falls was the solution the PPP came with, and they had the support of Norway who were helping with the funding and thought it was feasible.
Of course the PNC was negative on the project and scrapped it.
Also note: I am not a PPP supporter, I am interested in the success of Guyana. I am not one of those that are interested in their party ruling in spite of the detrimental results. The PPP govt had problems with corruption (which govt in the world is without this?), however I have long recognized them as the lesser of the two evils.

Keep preaching and enlightening folks, you are spot on.

Dude how could you implement when you do not have the basics in infrastructure. Energy costs in Guyana is alarmingly high and a deterrence to industrialization. The smart thing to do is/was to harness cheaper sources. Political gridlock continue to hamper this and in turn Guyanas development.
In reply to Runs
Hola...Runs..now we talking....money was pouring into Guyana left right and centre...through foreign aid.IDB.China.drugs...you name it...what is there to show.. industry wise...
All of us Guyana people are so disappointed in the past .present and future governments that really and truly we are a lost nation...its an economic civil war...maybe we should just have areal civil unrest and get this damn thing over...

Why don't you STFU with all dis Hola and Adios. You are so transparent and getting real annoying now....
In reply to steveo
Jagdeo and his cronies became so corrupt that they digusted even their most ardent supporters. Now we have the PNC (or whatever name they call themselves) setting up the framework for perpetual power aka rigging.
Jagdeo should show some decency and remove himself from Guyana politics, of course, he has none.
In reply to Bigzinc
Once you have remnants of the old boy's school around on either side there will continue to be corruption and racial strife. That endemic is rooted in Guyanese politics and there seems to be no remedy in the foreseeable future

you are missing the point. It is not about personality per se. Died in the wool PPP supporters could no longer support Jagdeo and his ilk so they voted for change. Jagdeo believed that people stupid and would vote blindly for him so he rightly got the boot.

Why are they not being brought before the courts, charged and jailed? If they stole state assets they need to be. Until I see such I will dismiss these allegations as fake news and conspiracies.
